The key is stopping the engine from moving by jacking it up. Hit me up if you run into problems.

I'm installing my ACT clutch/flywheel at the end of the month. Is it necessary to drain the transmission? Mines currently full of Redline good stuff oil and only 4k miles on it....

You will have to replace the oil. When you pull the drive shaft out oil will leak from the back of the tranny. Also you will have to tilt the tranny a bit to get it out. So yes you will need to replace the oil.

You will need to REMOVE the transmission oil, but you can put it back in if you want. By the way I didn't drain mine, and I spilled a ton of fluid in the process on my buddy's garage floor, haha.

Ok so I'm installing my clutch tomorrow, is it necessary to remove the shifter and center consul? Cause I have a self-auto shop on base with a 2 & 4 post lift and all the essential tools.

I think I might do this today. If I start it today, I want to finish today. Hmmm...

Well put together DIY though. Thanks!

Necro posting, but I really really want to thank you for the write up. I stripped the passenger side spring bolt (was installing mtec springs) and had to pull the transmission to get a buddy to attempt to re-thread it. The little hints, like tapping on the diff side of the driveshaft really worked.

Me and a lady friend did this in about 5 hours. Had her tagging and bagging bolts, handing me sockets and assisted with small things. 2 people can really cut down the time.
