Aftermarket HU, Factory USB Position - 3D Printed
Hi everyone, just wanted to share a link and some dimensions for use by others.
I have an aftermarket, Pioneer, headunit with a USB cable that comes off for use with CarPlay. Previously, this was just hanging out of my dash as it did not connect properly with the factory USB port. I've measured for and printed a plug that fits snuggly in the remaining hole from removing the factory USB/Aux setup and holds the Pioneer's USB cable nicely. I've included the dimensions for others' reference as I wasn't able to find them myself when digging through the forum. Keep in mind, these are kind of ballpark measurements since my calipers would not properly fit and I guessed on the radius of the edges. Measurements Outer Dimension: 33mm x 23mm, 4mm radius on corners. Front Lip Depth: 6mm (this could be thickened up to 7-8mm) Port-Hole Dimension: 18mm x 11mm x 9mm (depth). Port Walls (3mm thick): Inner Edge ^^, Outer Edge - 24mm x 17mm USB Cable: 17.5mm x 10.5mm You can find the files to print or re-work here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5427119 Imgur Album Hope this is the right area for a post like this!

Looks good!
FYI, yoou can also re-use the factory piece if you mutilate a USB Cable by removing the metal shroud of the female side. It will then properly connect to the backside if the factory piece. That‘s how I have done it with my Pioneer unit. I also soldered some wires and an AUX-Plug to retain that functionality, but that may be a bit over the top |

Thanks! Needs some sanding and maybe some paint / bondo in the gap to help it blend but that's a future-me problem. I was considering doing the same but I had botched another electrical project at the time and just didn't feel like cutting anything else up . Definitely the right way to do it however.

I used a cable like this:
