Driver Side Window Rattle

I have a rattling coming from my driver side window. It only occurs when the window is approximately 97-100% closed. If I crack the window enough the rattling stops. It sounds like something is tapping on the window very rapidly.

When the windows are down you can't hear it at all. I tried it with the driver side up and passenger side down to rule out wind noise covering up the sound. It loud and clear...since its right next to my damn head.

I suspected the rear deck at first since people have issues with that. I'm lucky enough not to have any issues with loose parts in my rear deck (that sounds funny).

Does anyone else have this issue?

I do. Still not convinced its the actual window. To me it seems like its coming from the top of the door, maybe underneath the panels? Sounds like its either top part of door, the B pillar maybe or the glass itself? I don't know for sure, but its really annoying.

Well at least I know its not an isolated issue. Its been getting more frequent or easier for the rattle to occur. When I first bought the car it wasn't an issue. Then it started by was very infrequent, now its pretty much always rattling as I drive, even if the road isn't too rough.

I'll look more into it when I get home and try to find the source of the noise.

Same here!

The problem started for me -6 to -12 degrees celcius (21 F, 10F) and the reset works. But the real problem now is the window rattling. Does anyone have this problem?

I think it's the window misaligned somehow from the ice while the window was trying to go up and down.

Hmm, I'm not sure that I have the same rattle but on my car the driver side window has started to emit a sharp clank when I close the door. It started when we had a few rather cold days (around -20C = -4F).

When the door is open or the window is slightly ajar, pushing the window outward causes a rattle somewhere inside the door, near the rear. Sounds as if a rubber guide rail or one of the window mounting bolts is off/loose and the glass touches metal.

The doors on my AE86 sound similar, but that's due to it having no weather strippings whatsoever.

Today the rattle is gone. I suspect it's because I rolled down my window completely down (did this a few times) which made it realign.

After the realignment I notice it does the roll down and up effect (from opening and closing door) in a normal up/down movement whereas when the window rattles, I notice from the outside the window rolls up/down a tad slanted.

I'll see if it resurfaces tomorrow since it's extremely cold tomorrow.

Yes that's right and rolling the window all the way down and all the way back up a few times seems to fix it.
