Anyway...

How's the "July" batch coming? Last I heard Rob was waiting on compressor wheels to come in... is he still waiting on that?

The money I've got allocated for the ESC is burning a hole in my pocket.

Its unfortunate because I'm sure he has lost potential customers due to the delays....but with a product so innovative I guess that's just how it goes. Almost sounds like he needs to hire a "staff".

Yeah, it's unfortunate. When i was shopping for a catless header, I wanted to get the openflash headers, but the long wait made me go with borla. I don't regret it, since there was no way I would wait half a year for it. But there is still more than enough demand for the ESC, and for anything else that requires this much of a lead time.

Rob isn't lacking in man hours. The delay is in the suppliers, so hiring extra staff will not speed up the lead time.

It would if he started manufacturing on site
He's got a machine shop, and has to machine everything even after they are up to his specs from the supplier. take one more step and he "don need no stinkin supplier"

I can definitely relate to that as im in engineering as well. Those suppliers can not only be late but completely miss specifications, then you have send it back for rework. Wastes alot of time.

Can anyone recommend a stronger starter battery that still fits in the existing footprint?

It's starting to get chilly, and I had to crank the car over a ton of times this morning to get it to cold start with E85 - it was already a bit of a pain to cold start without the ESC, but it's significantly worse now with the smaller battery.

It may not be the battery but rather the blend of E85 thats being pushed to gas stations now.

can't help you there, but if you turn your key to "on" for 10 seconds or so before you crank it you might have more luck. It should power up the electric fuel pump and at least get pressure to the back of the high pressure fuel pump before you start cranking.

Full throttle Electric Supercharger Build Thread

Yeah it's not the battery. It's the e85 blend. I've had the battery sit for two weeks and the car has cranked right over.

It's definitely not cranking as well as it was before. I definitely agree that the fuel is the root cause, just hoping to mitigate the issue a little bit with a stronger battery, as it took FAR more cranks to start this morning than it did before (with the same tank of fuel)

Interesting suggestion. I'll give that a shot tomorrow and see if it helps.

Did you run E85 before going ESC? I had this problem on E85 with the stock battery, which had nothing to do with it. (Switched back to pump gas and it starts right up.) Neither did the temperature, since it was summer in California.

I'm pretty sure the cranking enrichment is too low in some of the OFT E85 tunes. I should probably email Shiv about it.

Yes - I had trouble starting with E85 before the ESC, but the weaker cranking with the smaller battery seems to have made the cold start even worse. Granted, it could have something to do with the tune, but I would imagine at startup it is more or less the same as the non - ESC tune
