I've never even heard of these guys before the 86 videos, but I really enjoyed their 3 videos about the car.

I was checking the 3rd gear pull time in the posted video. It is the pull they were doing between the GR86 and the stock 86 Hakone. The 63-78 mph is done in 2.8 sec. Can be found using the video stats. Not a bad time, but it is exactly the same time you get in a light-tuned 1st gen car passing all the emissions (so w 2 cats in the exhaust). Too bad the new car comes with a taller final drive ratio, but I guess they were struggling with the mileage. It would have a better time with the 4.3:1 final drive ratio. Nevertheless, it is pretty much the same conclusion with what they were saying in Japan.

The new car is much faster. I've never done a 63 to 78 run. Theres no argument. The last gen is not as strong as the new car.

No need to make a 63 to 78 run. You can find the timings in a log file. I also compared 2nd gear timings with same results, but higher gear is always better cause of less wheel spin. You can always have the argument of comparing with different temperatures and road elevations, but I have several logs and the timings look same (level road and 20°C intake temp). For sure the new car comes stronger by the factory and it is a great deal to buy independent of dyno numbers! If it had the shorter final drive ratio from the refreshed model, then it would be even more difficult to catch it. Maybe the rear diff is swappable between the two generations

I found a dyno Kings did on a S2k since I know those cars extremely well and an AP2.5 made 216 SAE smoothing 5, tuned with a header. That's actually low to spot on for those cars. That car should be making ~220 with those mods. This does not seem to be a high reading dyno.

As has been pointed out by several of us already in other threads. They dyno chart for the gen 1 car in SG's video does not look right compared to the hundreds of other stock dyno's out there. Not doubting the gen 2's dyno, no tin foil hat.

The Gen 1 Dyno was pretty much identical to what we saw here locally.

This is also STD, kings is SAE which will be about 5hp less.

doesn’t look the same to me. Doesn’t even show the torque dip.

I mean yes, that’s true. But past the dip the graph looks about right to me…

I really do want to see his opinion as he is bombing along the canyons. Most videos I've seen are normal street driving or on a track.

I live right by a nice windy road that follows a river and that's where I have 90% of my fun. Seeing the car on that kind of road is something I'm looking forward to.

I agree, but it makes it look like the cars where not run identically, and prompts the raising of other questions.
