Not to rub it in but I did a longer test call today which also went well. Today's call was in much worse conditions. It was raining which everyone knows makes a ton of noise in our cars. On top of that my wife was also in the car using hands free while in the rain and a baby crying in the background. We communicated with no issue at all. She confirmed that it's hands down better then just days ago on iOS 15.0.2.

So I don't think it was just a flook. 15.1 really did fix this.

How does CarPlay look on this headunit? Specifically, how does Google Maps in daytime theme look via CarPlay?

Would someone mind taking a photo of it?

I ask because I’ve been endlessly frustrated with the Joying headunit I got, and am seriously considering selling it and getting this.

CarPlay is CarPlay. It should look the same on any head unit or are you specifically questioning about the brightness of the display? If so, the CC3 is brighter than my OEM touch screen by a large margin. I’d say the CC3 with the headlights on and the screen dimmed is about as bright as my OEM head unit was with the headlights off. I’ve actually turned down the dimmed brightness because it was too bright at night.

Anyways, here is a video of me launching CarPlay (wirelessly). I have it configured to automatically launch CarPlay every time I turn on the car but for the demo I closed CarPlay and went back in. Maybe I should have just started the video with the car off to show the boot time too. The head unit only takes about 1 sec to boot. It’s not something I even notice. Basically I turn the key and look down and see CarPlay connecting. I also cycle the lights off on a few times so you can see the brightness change. I have nighttime brightness set to the lowest level. Daytime is maxed.

TEYES CC3 Android HU

Thanks! This was helpful.

CarPlay should be the same in every unit… but it isn’t. Google Maps is perfectly clear on my parents’ CRV, but not on my headunit.

I wrote up an explanation on XDA https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/j...able.4362905//here, but basically it looks like what Joying does loses some color depth.

I meant to post this earlier. I was able to score the Motorola MA1 Wireless Android... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PQ95GY4...p_mob_ap_share

And I can confirm that it works. I don't know if it's just my phone or it's the HU, but I have to turn off and on my Bluetooth on my phone, everytime I jump back in the car to get it to connect. Overall everything works flawlessly!

Finally got around to installing those JBL speakers. I did the fronts first because they are so easy to access. I ran that way for a few months and wasn't blown away with the differance. Then I ended up with water in my trunk and back seats (leaking tail lights) so I had the interior out and decided to install the rears while I was in there. Now I notice a big difference.

So if anyone is thinking of buying these JBLs, do the front and rear at the same time, it's worth it.

Also, this adapter will let you reuse the stock connectors for the front speakers: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RMZ4CR6

Now I want to source something for the door speakers.

Glad you did the rear as well. Definitely great upgrade for the price. Let me know if you find a good upgrade for the door.

The OEM doors are 2ohm (from what I have read). The GX628 is 2.3ohm so I'm thinking it would be a good match. I was wanting to keep it simple and use the OEM wiring and power them off the OEM trunk amp. It also looks like you can seperate the OEM speaker from the mounting bracket and then mount the new 6.5in speaker in the OEM bracket.

Amazon has a pair of these speakers for $69:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084KWVD96

I'll probably give it a shot.

Yeah I want the same setup. I've seen that you can reuse the bracket
