Sounded like a three pot, taillights of a rolla.

Surprise not found, glad they’re doing it though, should be a nicer alternative to the Veloster N.

After all the teasers and rumors, that vid ending pretty much confirmed it is in fact a GR Corolla hatchback.

Looking into this abit more, the car is apparently going to be unveiled at the Formula Drift event in April.

That would make sense. That's also where they did the First 86 meet up in 2012.

Funny how things come full circle. 10 or so years ago Mitsubishi and Subaru had the Evo and STI respectively and Honda and Toyota only made boring vehicles. Now the EVO and STI are dead and Honda is about to release a new Type R and Toyota the GR Corolla.

Excited about both cars, it’ll be great to see them go head to head.

Hmm. Partially correct. Honda always made the Type R but never considered the US as hot hatch market. Only since the FK8 , they came into USA. Toyota went into sports cars with GT86 and then Supra and then the GR yaris too. Only now are trying a larger 4WD one for the US market.

The FN2 Type R that we got here in OZ (10 or so years ago, 2007-2011 to be exact) is not in the same league as the FK8 or the old DC2 or even the DC5 Integra Type Rs.

For Toyota 10 or so years ago the 86 was just being released, 11 years ago it wasn’t around. Evos and WRX STIs were though.

If this Corolla is anywhere near as cool as the Yaris or even slightly better. Is going to be really hard to keep the BRZ as I planned to do.

After putting over 10 000kms on my GR Yaris I still find my 17' BRZ more fun car on daily basis. At this point I'd rather get rid of Yaris than BRZ

I would hope the GR Corolla is just a GR Yaris in a larger body since it seems like all the mechanical bits will be carried over.

The only thing I am worried about is them keeping the AWD. People keep saying confirmed this and that even though it's not. But in the end I'd be happy with the turbo 3 and a manual transmission.

How likely is that 3cyl going to make it into the US? Not to mention with markups, thats going to be a $50-60k car. Im betting its going for the CTR market with FWD. The Focus is dead, Evo dead, Sti dead. Civic Type R and Veloster N are going to be its competition.

Prediction: No 3cyl, FWD Hybrid focused on power. Think 260hp Honda CRZ.
