MomHawk was out of town this past weekend at a (remote) high school reunion. My oldest son's wife/daughter were out of town on a rare Saturday he had off, and my other two sons were also available.

We hopped online at about 10:30am Saturday and except for a break of about an hour at 6:00pm for some dinner, we gamed until about 1:00am Sunday morning. Primarily played Risk Of Rain 2 and Gunfire Reborn with a couple of others thrown in.

That's probably the longest gaming session I've done in 15 years.

I think my longest gaming session ever was about 12 hours in college at the weekly LAN party/game night in the PC lab. Started at ~7pm Friday then until the cafeteria opened at ~7am. I can't remember if we went back to the lab after that... Only did that once though lol.

I followed the instructions to hit F1 and went into the BIOS. I then hit F7 to go to the simplified menu and there I saw a graphic showing all the fans turning with their indicated RPM. Both the main and axu. CPU fans were not moving. I clicked on "Manual Fan Settings" and then set them to high. Back to the F7 screen and the CPU Fan was now spinning at about 750 RPM's
I hit F10 to save and exit and finished the boot. However, after boot-up I was missing many of my toolbar icons. So, I did a soft boot, (Restart) and everything seemed to work except I couldn't log into anything, view pages or anything. I kept getting a Date/time code error. I checked and sure enough the clock said 11:00 am Jan. 01, 2006. Reset the clock via the internet and everything worked for the rest of the day.

Next day, same thing. So that's when I got it, my CMOS battery must be dead. That meant undoing all the cables and digging out the case from under the desk. Then I learned that I had to disassemble part of the system to get at the stupid battery located under the GTX 980 graphics card. A card that is held in by three hard to reach screws and locked into the slot by a plastic release leaver that's near impossible to get at.

I had to drive 35klm's into the big city to get a CR2032 only to find out that they come in a six pack. This last one had been going for six years so who knows if I'll ever need another. Good thing they were only 10 bucks.
By coincidence I just ordered some CR2032s to replace my Buick FOB battery from Amazon on Monday lol.

I remember when we (work peeps) realized the CMOS batteries were starting to go bad in the systems we supplied. We had to go through all of the computer/networking/communications bits (like 30+ per system) and figure out what if any batteries it had, what the expected life was, what the symptoms and failure propagation effects were and develop R&R procedures, then build that all into the support process. At first we celebrated any time we found an actual supercap. Then we realized those were worse because the systems might be in storage for months/years and we had to write reinitialization procedures for them...

Sorry, my inner humfrz is showing.

Be like me.
Get bored. Learn how to set a Flight Plan and Auto Pilot in a 747.
Fly at night from HNL (Honolulu) to DTW (Detroit).

Also when ot comes to the Button batteries. You'll be happy when you do need em.
Hopefully that never happens.

They're used by the twin's key fob... Had to replace mine earlier this summer. So maybe you'll be glad to have some stashed.

Mine doesn't use a CR 2032.

Eventful things so far. Tailed/intercepted by an F18 out of Honolulu.
Almost killed over Chicago by a UPS flight.
And crashed on landing. XD

This is the part that gets me, nothing I read about the CPU Fan error mentioned to check the CMOS battery. Not the motherboard manual, not the ASUS web-site or any of the on-line FAQ's/forums, nada, zip, zero, zilch! It was the date/time not keeping that clued me in.

I still have all my old computers going back to my very first one, a 1st gen 386. (May even have the wife's 1st 286...) With my luck they will all have different batteries and some are likely not made anymore.

Shows how far back I go with this. The original IBM PC didn't have a battery, you had to type in the date/time each time you started it up. It was a big deal when a company created a card with a battery that automatically set the time/date when you started it up.

I wish I did. My very first personally owned PC was a PC Limited (M. Dell's original company) 80286 PC. Most of my computers after that though were a string of computers I built using donor parts from the previous one. I used the power supply, case and some of the memory out of the PC Limited one when I built my next computer.

Yeah, I have never seen a COMS failing/failure cause the CPU/PSU fans not to work. Don't even think those are even connected.

Hmm, I thought my 14 did but don't have that to check. 17 does. But maybe it's just the push start models?

Probably different for push to start fobs. My Buick has a start button and uses a 2032, but I think my FRS key uses a cr16xx. Push start fobs need more capacity to do their thing I would think.

fyi its highly advisable to buy button/coin batteries from places other than amazon. i've been burned several times by counterfeit or expired batteries with fake expiration dates on them. often these things would only last a month and need replacement instead of years.
