Be interesting to see what is in the filter after a couple of oil changes (Petah you changing again soon?)
Don't know enough about the material properties of RTV over time/significant heat. I would assume that it gets a little more brittle over time in those conditions meaning that there is at least potential for "late" break off.

I would think that RTV in the oil may look like an inverse bell curve.

It stays pliable a long long time. The second leg of the bell curve would be very short.
The bigger risk is the mechanical "chopping" off as the two mating surfaces are torqued together and thin the sealant out to the point that the oil flow can separate it. This is something that will happen quickly but sections that hold on should hold forever.

I found this very interesting, in Kevin Vo's FA24 tear down video, one of the bolts that was removed from the timing cover was caked with WET RTV! Below is the screen shot of the video.

Sealed in a hole is no different then sealed in a tube. Would probably take a long time for it to dry in a blind hole.

RTV silicone adhesives rely on moisture and humidity in the air to cure properly. Generally, the conditions have to be 40-60% RH, but can extend down to 20%, and up to 70% in certain cases. The moisture in the air reacts with the stabilizer in the RTV, and once the stabilizer is removed, the adhesive can cure fully.

That is thread sealant. Black or grey on the newer engines. It stays wet a long time. Have a FA24 turbo (Ascent) from 2019 that we're tinkering with and the PCV Valve thread's sealant is still wet and very sticky.

On some of the newer engines they are also starting to apply some kind of sealant stuff when sliding hoses onto fittings. Likely to increase seal longevity?

Most of these sealants are moisture (humidity) curing so hidden in the nice dry threads they will indeed stay "wet".

Tough to say this early on without an idea on demand/volume. I will speculate ~$49 but don't hold me to it.

Of course! Just doing what we do
Would love to see these available as a potential track upgrade, even if only for peace-of-mind. Thanks for supporting the platform!

I'm about 1k miles from pulling my oil pan a 2nd time and checking the pickup again. Curious to see how much more accumulates as well.

So basically a pan drop at 1k, 5k, and every ~10k is the only way to sleep tight?

Another data point to add to the collection. 2000kms, 3 track days. 2023 Brz.

As you can see from the oil pan, all of the excess rtv is still intact. However, the pickup still has rtv, which is likely from the timing cover.

Some design tweaks coming, but the fitment to the pickup is spot on. It's on there so well, I broke two, removing them :P
