When you run lean, the EGTs go up.. With a high CR like these cars have.. You run the risk of detonation, uncontrolled combustion.. DI helps cool the cylinders but with that much boost and the high CR.. You're just asking for trouble..

So then, if you know it's safe... what are the EGTs? Clearly there a concern at this level, you'd at least want to confirm it. You did, right? You're saying you know it's safe.... so you must know what it is.

In any case I commend the accomplishment, I just don't believe for a second that this is what any reasonable person would call a 'street safe' tune. If you can post knock-free logs and confirm the EGT's, I'd happily eat crow.

For those of you seeking a dyno graph there's one at the end of the video.

No, I'm not gonna post the graph and in all likeliness I wont really respond again to defend what we did, unless our customer (Erik) has any questions and would like me too.

I asked for both the dyno plot and the boost graphs if you go back and read. Thanks for offering not to post them though. Thanks for your one post.

It showed up. Peak torque at 7000 RPM to make that 400+ hp number. Not my cup of tea, but as long as you are happy enjoy. I would still really love to see a third gear pull from 2500 to 7500 RPM log from EcuTek.

I think you got the point

The up top HP number is not such a huge deal for reliability. The pistons speeds are much faster, and the torque number is what you have to watch. Overall 300 tq is not a big deal IMO. The fact that it holds up and carries it to redline just shows that it is tuned proper. Keeping it misfire free and holding to redline is no joke at those levels. If you look carefully at other dynos posted on this forum you'll find a serious lack of carrying it to redline past 7k.

From what I have seen from subaru motors is that they aren't TQ monsters, in fact I don't believe I have ever seen one with higher TQ than WHP. Then again, I haven't been around as long as some of you guys have been in the car world, so feel free to prove me wrong

Any motor with a Rev limit above ~6500 should not be a torque monster. Because HP and torque are directly related to RPM (literally just HP = (tq x RPM)/5250) Any motor that makes more HP than Tq that revs above 6k shows that the power is literally dropping off as you rev harder.

Well my family owned a garage and race cars since I was born... I started bleeding brakes on the go karts and 410 sprint cars around 7 so that would be roughly 25 years now.
Unless you count helping load cars. I got run over by a 410 sprint car when I was like 4...
