To further clarify, it's a combination of the design of the fuel pump, the ethanol content of the fuel, and heat.

Plenty of other cars with DI have been doing this for 20+ years and don't have any issues.

Its a cold day in hell...

I did not know you were so familiar with my car!

I don't have any loud or annoying noises coming from my fuel pump.

I've had my car since Jan 22, just about to hit 2.9k miles. Absolutely no crickets, guess I must be lucky or the gas I get is ethanol free, not sure though. Even if I do develop chirps, there's always the radio to drown it out.

That's a great idea, thanks. Do you mean you can get a cover for the FR-S/BTZ or for the Focus?

And that's IF the pump is equivalent in performance which very few people have such information and most of them work for Toyota.

It would take lots of research before even attempting, it's not something that can just plug and play. Nothing is these days.

Makes me want carburetors again...
He's talking about the low pressure fuel pump. The LPFP is extremely simple to replace. But it won't fix the problem since it's related to the HIGH pressure fuel pump.

The 255lph Walbro is popular with the WRX/STI and EVO guys for E85 conversions. Hence the suggestion.

I got my car back from the dealership after they replaced the pump on 4/9. Posted up in here to wish my car would stay cricket free, but wasn't too hopeful: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...632#post854632

430 miles on mine. Noticed it around the 250 mile mark. It's not too loud but it is kind of annoying at a long stop light. I just turn the music up and ignore it.

Need an exhaust badly too

Starts to be noticeable at 950 miles, keeping track of it, and now have 1190 and still making that rediculouse noise.

If you guys have pure gas (not the typical e15) available nearby I would suggest you start filling up with that. I have had my HPFP replaced twice now (on pump #3) and it chirps still.... until I filled up with ethanol-free gas. No more chirps.
