Cost to go turbo??

Hi guy痴, i知 looking to go Turbo soon! What would be the total cost of doing so not including turbo kit? I知 not looking to reinforce anything but the clutch! Looking more into HKS, Greddy and AVO.

Call the tuning shop you plan to have install it and ask them.

Hello Sloyota and welcome to our forum -

You may get more input if you would place your question over here:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=78

I reckon, if you're not going to beef up (or modify) any other parts of the car (except the clutch) and excluding the cost of the kit itself, the cost would include the installation and a tune.

Those prices are best estimated from your local shop.

Budget $5,000 and up. You may think you can get things for cheaper, but to do it right, it will be 5k. I thought I could do it for under 3 and am currently 2k over budget.

Small things that get overlooked -
Tires and wheels to hold power - $1,200 for decent wheels with tires that have a good compound
Cooling in the form of an oil cooler - $500-$1,000
Tuning licensing cost and actual tuning - $1,000 +
Heat management (heat wrap / reflective tape / hood venting) $200 to $1,500
New clutch yo - $650-$1,500
Oil catch cans - $300+

Notice how there's nothing here that adds power aside tuning? Yeah

EDIT:: Just re-read your post, you were asking for cost not including the kit. This has key items, you may also want to include injectors depending on your goals.

I don't see any suspension or drivetrain work? Need more budget.

Seek info as in look for the info, not get it spoon fed. You should also have money stashed away for a spare motor/tranny in case something goes wrong. Much more is needed then just a clutch when going FI.

We are trying to save you from a mistake. If you can't price out what is needed then I would be worried if you install this yourself. It is not simple. If you plan to have a shop install then they will be able to give the most accurate quote for whichever systems you are looking at out the door.

I figured I'd let him ride the buckin' bronco since he doesn't want to make anything stronger but the clutch. Obviously motor mounts, clutch mounts, diff mounts, suspension should all be addressed, but I just wanted to hit things he doesn't have aside the clutch
