For some reason we won't have mass vaccination for the general public until September in Canada. People 80 and over will get called for vaccines 3rd wk of March.

Chances are we will all end up getting multiple vaccinations over the next year or so if they don't have a knockout for all the variants that have or might still emerge.

Canada paid fully in advance to several vaccine companies midway last year, but somehow our shipments were pushed back in Feb. Perhaps most countries recieving earlier supply are those whose infection rates have been most crippling. To me it feels crippling here too, but numbers speak.

We also paid for a lot of vaccines to go to 3rd world countries along with other countries, which in turn will also secure us an additional quantity of vaccines. It is a global problem and richer countries will not help solve this unless we make sure people everywhere get vaccinated as well as our own people.

In some ways this is crazy on both sides to me.

For one thing, we had months and months of knowing a vaccine was coming and supposedly these companies were ramping up their production lines and whatnot to be able to handle producing the necessary quantities.

But I'm also not a logistics person so I'm sure it's more difficult than simply "we had X months in advance to prepare for the formula we'd use for production".

Plus then you consider stuff like supplemental supplies perhaps not being widely available or in much lower than needed supply (syringes, freezers, chemical A/B/C, etc.).

Now I understand why my distant cousins in the land of "plenty" are struggling to control this darn virus.. swabbing anal then nasal don't work. Unless you have the virus as the sense of smell has long gone, don't matter which order you do the swabbing.. You'll always get a "shitty" result.

Ha ha funny. In the 90's I was in the retail mattress business and I'll never forget one day an older middle-age Philippino couple in my store were deciding on a mattress. It went exactly like this:

"I don't know, what do you think Daddy? I don't know, what do you think Mommy? "

All said with a heavy Philippine accent. Very cute scene, and quite distinct to their culture to address each other that way.
