silver is somewhat easier, the light color lends itself to blending a lot more than dark metallic blue.

I`ve been (was) a spraypainter for 40yrs and silver is in the top few of hardest to blend, dark colors quite often don`t need blending and are easier to blend if needed. But the damage being ankle height it`s hard to see all different angles and lighting so almost anything goes.

Alright... so I just went around to two body shops in the area for some estimates. They both said a full all-out repair would be around $1500. The extra $500 would be the labor involved in removing/replacing the PPF. The first shop suggest I just DIY with touch up paint. The second had a more tempting alternative choice: around $50 for them to wet sand the area smooth and they will just brush touch-up paint for some 70% (per the shop guy) back to normal. Or I can just have them prep that surface smooth for me and I can aerosol spray it myself at home.

That would be feasible but I think the damaged area would still "imprint" onto whatever is covering it because of the uneven surface. Hmm... maybe i'll just put some blue painter's tape over the scuff and call it a day haha |

If they were any good they would wizz the damage, light prime, 3000 the side of the bar , blow it in and a light buff to finish for $200. Oh and you won`t pick it, again if they are any good!
That`s what I would do at work 1/2 an hours work and $200 cash in pocket edit.. I did not say you could do it in half an hour, its half an hours work plus some drying time.
