Portland is great if you like bad smells and homeless people.

not bad. started a new job in banking with the intent that it will open doors etc to me when I finish my degree in Finance. it's only been a few weeks but I've decided that this retail type of banking atmosphere is 100% not for me. I'm not someone that needs to deal with the public on a regular basis. but that's ok. they have other options and I will continue to explore my options.

in other car related news I might be picking up a 95 3000GT VR4 soon. found one in St.Louis that I really like but I need to get someone to check it out before I make the trip. I'd hate to go all the way there and find out that it's knocking or has some other major issue I don't feel like dealing with out the gate. Hopefully it checks out, I miss the platform and wish I had never sold mine in the first place.

Well, you might as well not come to Portland, you missed their annual naked bike ride -

Is that @Ultramaroon I see off in the distance?

Not bad is great. Like Portland

I drooled over the 3000GT for a while but never got over the AWD. I probably wouldn't have fit anyhow. We'll never know.

Almost got pulled over by CHP a bit ago on 101. I was in the lane next to the carpool lane, it was still 6pm-ish, so within carpool lane hours. I got stuck behind a flatbed truck and the traffic to the right wasn't free and clear enough for me to (unsafely) pass on the right, and the truck wasn't merging either. But there was absolutely nobody ahead of him.

Carpool lane was completely clear so I think to myself "I wouldn't normally go in the carpool lane during carpool hours but I think I can pass this guy quickly enough anyway and nobody's around".

So I downshift to 5th, speed up to 75ish, merge over, 5-10 seconds later I'm ahead of him and merge back. Right as I settle back in the correct lane, a CHP officer in a Dodge Charger quickly tearing through the carpool lane catches up to me, slows down to pace me (by then I'm going 70 and when I notice him I left off the gas and slowed to 68ish). So I look over and he shakes his head at me, and then speeds off.

Like okay I get it, carpool lane law is I can't use it without a passenger. But absolutely nobody else was in the damn lane, you're telling me I can't do a safe pass that takes ~20 seconds that would be perfectly fine if me and the truck had been shifted over one lane toward the right??

I guess I shouldn't really complain since he basically did let me off with a warning shake of his head, but it's still kind of a dumb law in this kind of situation. It's always the _one_ time you do something that you get caught.

Anywho back to your regularly-scheduled programming.

Thinking of making rear diffuser out of aluminum. It will start from diff area and connect (start) to rear lip, so looking from the back, prob won't see it.

What would be an ideal thickness? Decently thick, so it won't bend easily, but easy enough to work/cut.

6061 has been a go-to for years. Dealing with bird strike and FOD.
Not a lot of fist size rocks or tumbling suspension links over 1000 feet though.

Usually they buy thick and mill or acid etch between attachment point areas that need to be more resistant to tearing (tension).

Would recommend polycarbonate cardboard panels - for mock up at least.
Can get 4'x8' panels in a rainbow of colors. Much cheaper and easier to work.
Unless mirror polished show car with mirrors under.

Yeah, I’m planning to use cardboard to mock the design first then work on the sheet. Measure twice, cut once right?

The plastic board they use for political signs all over.
Can get it up to 1/2 inch with thicker cell walls.
Really think it's a superior aero panel material for underneath.
Can glue bond layers for support points and cut with a hot wire or solder iron.
Poke holes for lots of zip ties

You just now finding that out -

- don't do that no more!

You got off easy.

It could have been "the first time" you decided to have an affair, with that cute little coworker and you run across your wife at the same motel -

It's great stuff. Durable, no rust, dirt cheap...
