13' FRS Engine Sounds Inquiry

Hi Guys first time poster looking for some guidance.

Long story short one day I was chilling like a villain and the Check Engine light came on. Originally attributed this to loose gas cap since that was the incident that caused my first Check Engine light ever. Well that was not the case, turns out I got the dreaded P00016 code.

Took it in for repair, got it back, car felt fine, but whenever i would slow down or go up steep hills it sounded like an ascending roller coaster.

Took it back in they said the Vacuum Pump was failing and it was causing the noise. Fine, had that replaced.

I will admit I never payed closed attention to the engine sounds since I never had an issue, but now I hear a bunch of different noises and are probably overly worried. Hence I come to you guys seeking guidance.

Per your experience, do things sound fine? The car drives without an issue, if anything I feel the fuel efficiency is much better. Originally was at 20.1 now close to 24.1. granted also had new tires put in.

Thanks all, really appreciate the help.

First there is no p00016 code, i think you meant poo16.
Who did you take the car to?
Sounds ok.
I agree, what is the vacuum pump?
Did the shop charge you for this work? Did they just clear the code and send you on your way?

vacuum pump has nothing to do with p0016. That family of codes are not to be taken lightly. I'd take it to a dealer or more importantly, to someone who knows how to diagnose AVCS issues and test servo performance with techstream.

Do it now before (in case) the initial position value slews out of whack for that bank-1 intake servo. Once that goes too far it's bye-bye ECU. Not joking.

I don’t hear anything unusual in your vids, my car makes a clunky noise when I first accelerate kinda sounds like it’s about to stall for a second(you know that klunking noise) then picks up and it fine, brought it to Subaru and they said they don’t hear anything...kinda pisses me off cause it only started doing it after it got 2k miles on it. I guess these engines just make weird noises

These engines sounds like tractors.... Noticed in your Signature you have a 2013. Is your car apart of the recall? You might want to check.
