Damn the engine takes a long time to recover from that dip... Is there a lack of fuel delivery at that rpm? Can you measure fuel pressure at specific rpm? Compared to adequate delivery on other rpm levels?

Wow that is one peaky dyno graph. Hitting big torque at 7k rpm for a small-ish turbo.

Is it set up this way to prevent detonation in the mid-range or is this a product of not being aggressive with boost onset?

The higher rev limit has to do wonders on the street for this car. Awesome. Should help keep it in the meat of the powerband really well.

This reminds me of the episode of Initial D where Takumi gets the 20V Silvertop installed in his 86. And he wonders why it is so slow, that is until his gets to the more fun RPM range: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwPWt49t8TU&feature=plcp"]Initial D Second Stage - 9 - The New Eight-Six (SUB) - YouTube[/ame]

Im a newb to ecu tuning or tuning in general so please bare with me on this, if the rpm range increased with this tune, will the stock internals be alright rotating at a higher max rpm? I would worry about something breaking. Though the fuel trim is optimized for higher rpms, will it be mechanically sound?

Good question. Nobody running the tune has had any issues with respect to the rev limit increase. I haven't had any issues period, except for wanting even more power

The short answer to your question is, from the testing of Visconti's tune to date, the raised rev limit hasn't produced any mechanical issues.

I think you're right generally that increased RPMs = increased wear on an engine as a broad principle, but in terms of specific mechanical issues caused by John's reflash or the rev limit aspect, there haven't been any. For me, the reflash has been perfect and without issue. The flash even smoothed out my rough idle problem, so it's a net positive mechanically as far as I'm concerned.

This is one of John's turbo tunes, however, so I don't know exactly how he deals with the rev limit in the turbo tune.

Belated Edit: John has a kit running 20psi on stock internals with just injectors and a fuel pump, no additional modifications in terms of internals. I think that says something about the durability of our FA20's, and also the tuner and the kit.
