RIP I already bought one and plan to install this weekend. I dont really care about power as catbacks are more for sound anyways. Im just hoping fitment is OK.. seems to be a mixed bag. I'll definately be posting sound clips and thoughts afterwards though.

Is it possible they are only saying that to avoid losing sales for the new exhaust? If they said "Yeah no probs dude the old one works just fine!" wouldn't exactly help the new one sell, right?

I find that hard to believe. It's a nearly straight through 2.5" exhaust.

Their header on the other hand has been shown to be restrictive on the FA24.

yeah i dont think its going to make much difference one way or another. Probably trying to justify a newer, more expensive SKU for 22 models

It's possible that it's all just to boost sales of new models. However, it does seem to echo what I've been seeing from other companies. I reached out to Perrin a while ago about their catbacks for the 2nd gen and they confirmed fitment only for their 3 inch catback. They also told me a new 2.5 inch version for the 2nd gen is in development.

FWIW, I've been looking closely at the HKS Spec L2, and the 2nd gen version also has a slightly wider diameter compared to the one for the 1st gen by a few mm. I don't really know how much of a difference these small changes make (if any), but just something for people to consider if they want to. I'm sure most of the older models will work completely fine.

I went from my JDL UEL to a JDL equal length header.

Hopefully getting back on the dyno soon to compare.

Equal length will make more with tuning over UEL. All depends on what you are chasing. For me, I will sacrifice whatever extra power comes from equal length just to have that UEL subie(boxer) rumble.

to each their own hoping to see results soon, very curious to find out how much that difference is. Any guesses what the difference will be? More power all across the RPM? Just up top? Bottom?

These same exact headers on a 2017 made almost 10 ftlbs in the mid range. But that was also with a tune

By the time the tips arrive and get welded on, I will have spent under $400CND. Similar aftermarket ones will cost you about $500CND plus shipping/duty(depending where you order from) which will likely net you $600-$700CND for something a good trusted local exhaust shop could fabricate for you cheaper. Sure, the aftermarket ones look more flashy, but ultimately, who is looking under your car to see pretty your exhaust is? Not many......so, save your money, muffler delete and support local businesses.

Very nice. Do you get any drone ? How are cold start, is it insanely loud ? I am looking at something between stock and a cat-back sound wise.

Judging by the video lachute performance posted recently, it looks like what i'm looking for

Cold starts are pretty loud ya lol. But once its warmed up, you can keep it well under control by keeping the RPMs down. Drone is entirely dependant on how much right foot you put into it and what gear you are in. If I want to keep it quiet, I absolutely can. Highway in 6th is more road noise than exhaust.

Here's my Borla S-type install. No issues with fitment or tip alignment at all. Looks perfect and the tips sit much further out than the stock tips (which look almost TOO recessed to me)

Great sound when accelerating and downshifting. Zero drone at highway or low RPM cruising.
