I went by the Chuck Patterson, the Scion dealer here in Chico. The Firestorm AT was sold but it looks like they just got in a Hot Lava 6MT, no markup.

I actually feel kind of bad for those who got ripped off now, since I paid $3k mark-up and the car came with 127 miles off the lot... Love the car, and it's been awesome driving it, still feel like crap for possibly getting this car from a shady deal gone bad...

So story behind it was it was the first BRZ to come in, but buyer fell through, and all other pre-orders had $5k mark-up on it. Guy before me wanted it @ $2800 markup, but didn't happen for some reason.

Delivery cost was $770, no dealer-added options listed, front licence plate already screwed on, but I got a 7-yr/100k mile warranty + this xylon interior/exterior protectant thing, so I guess it's not too bad of a deal... ~40 of those miles might have been me on the test drive... We went from oakland to hayward and back...

EDIT: oh yea, forgot the 3yr/36k free service & maintenance too...

I'm not going to lie, $3K markup is an unconscionable ripoff if you ask me. But you have your car, and many of us do not, so perhaps the price is worth it to be one of the first. Nice that they throw in some extras but I think you could have saved some money there buying them separately/after the fact. Sorry, but at least you are enjoying the car.

40mile test drive?! Wow they must have felt really confident you were going to buy it. None of the dealers are letting anyone test drive the BRZ around here... but hey if I was paying $3-5K markup I would damn well expect the car to be meticulously perfect and with less than 20 miles.

Yeah, my car had 17 miles on it when I picked it up... I have a feeling a few of the sales guys might have checked it out before I picked it up.

I just posted this in the Sacramento area dealers thread, but thought I'd copy it here for everyone's FYI as well...

Went to Geweke Toyota in Lodi today (2hr drive from S.F.) and almost bought an MT Firestorm FR-S. Went on a test drive (already had 80 miles on it) and decided to buy it at MSRP. Got through a bunch of paperwork and about to finish up with the finance guy when the salesman tells me the car was damaged and repaired. He tells me the hood and grill were replaced, but would not give me specifics on how the damage occurred. Then he tells me they can't lower the price due to Scion's Pure Pricing policy (not that I would've bought it anyway). Unbelievable. 2 hour drive and was just about to sign the finance papers. Sad thing is, they'll do this dance over and over until some poor, desperate kid buys it. Anyway, at least I got a test drive out of it.

the sad thing is, who knows how many cars (of all kinds not just these) get damaged coming from the factory or on transporters. I bet it happens all the time. One of the BRZ's I looked at, the sales guy was telling me they had to repair the front bumper after it was damaged while driving it off the truck. Fact is, unless you're getting the white-glove LFA delivery treatment, all cars are probably getting abused along the delivery pipeline. If the repairs are done right you might not have ever noticed the issue for the life of the vehicle if no one told you. Sometimes ignorance is bliss?
