Swapping the short block with FA20 heads just seems like the wrong way to go about it to me. Complete FA24’s with transmission(also supposedly improved) are under 7k. Seem’s like it would be easier to go that route and work out what needs changed so the ECU can read the sensors it needs to run. If I had a bigger budget I’d have a complete FA24 in my garage right now. We already know about 99% sure that it is using the same signal type as the 17’+ cars for cam and crank position. Merging the engine harnesses, or building new crank and cam reluctor along with swapping to the FA20 crank sensor(pre 17’ cars) seems like it would be less intrusive.

Can’t find one right now. The first one I thought I found didn’t include trans but it was pictured. If I find another I will link it. There were over half a dozen FA24’s engines on eBay a few days ago but now there are not many.

From what I recall from Opie’s thread, he couldn’t buy an FA24 short block without a VIN. I am sure that will change in the future when availability is a bit better.
Also noticing that FA24DIT(turbo) engines are much cheaper, just the FA20DIT.

I measured a set of FA20 heads a while back and at the FA24 bore there didn’t seem to be much gasket space. I’ll have to check again when I pull another engine apart here in another month or so.

From what I’ve researched the difference between the heads and block is one of the issues needed to resolve for this to work well.

I've always toyed with the idea of supercharging my 2015. I'm fine on the street but more power on the straights at the track would be nice. Like you, I'm very curious what a F24 in a light first gen will do. My 2015 is 2450lbs at the moment. I'm going to lose the motor at some point. I'm hoping the FA24 swap is dialed in by then.

The swap is pretty well dialed in. Yes, I did have a problem with a cam sensor but I'm the only one who has had a documented problem. I would do another FA20-24 swap from RSM in a heart beat.
