Well said and so much better than the earlier guy who thought a Z is "in a league of its own"!!! LoL

Sometimes it seems like you scared yourself into selling your FR-S after the recall and now you spend your days on this forum trying to convince yourself it was the right move.

Absolutely fantastic comparison of the two cars that somehow I missed previously. Thanks for the link!!
Both of your cars are gorgeous examples!

Just here to warn the noobs to stay away from this platform..enjoyed it for abt 6 months before I started to get bored of it... Throw in the TOB failing before 50k miles and the valve recall and I was so happy when I finally sold that POS

Respectfully, one bad experience does not a POS make of an entire platform. YOUR car may have been a POS, and you’re certainly entitled to that opinion about your one car, based on your personal experience. But there are many others, myself included, who have had a fantastic experience with this car, and I’m no NOOB to sporty cars, or cars in general at 57, having owned a boatload. Right now I own and semi regularly drive a mint S2000 with 26k original miles, and nine times out of ten, when I want to go out and just have a blast driving, I take the BRZ. The S2000 is a fantastic vehicle. So is the BRZ. So, just because you had a bad experience is no reason to try to turn others, NOOBs particularly, away from a car that provides such a joyous driving experience to many, many people. There is not, never has been, and never will be, a platform ever designed that didn’t have bad, single examples come off the assembly line at some point. So, don’t be bitter Sir. Like an old girlfriend who did you dirty, it’s best to just move on with life. There’s always another girl or twenty out there for you.

TOB was updated in 2017, valve spring issue was just 2013s and only affected a small %age of those (seems like recall screwups were more of a problem). '13s definitely had the most issues but plenty of those have kicked around for years without big probs. I've only put 50k miles on my '17, but seems very well put-together to me so far, hardly a POS, far from it imo.

I had a very nice LS3 RX-7 as a 2nd car which I intended to keep as my fun weekend/track car when I got my '17 BRZ to replace my S2000 daily-driver. Wound up selling FD because BRZ was more fun to drive most of the time.

Couple of years later I got a 987.2 Cayman and drove it alongside the BRZ on the road and at the track for a year. Again, I found the BRZ more fun to drive and sold the Porsche, which on the street I found kinda aloof...

3+ years in, I'm still not bored "of" mine.

For how long this car has been out, im pretty sure your just yelling at a cloud at this point.

Besides, the early model years had the most issues, they got pretty much fleshed out by the time it was refreshed in 17.

Besides the recall fiasco which wasn’t the cars fault but the incompetent dealers, I haven’t had 1 problem with this car even on track. The majority of these cars are purchased by the younger crowd and are sometimes misused and not maintained properly. Either of these or a combo of both will compromise the reliability.

think you need to add a little more salt to that.

130,000 nearly flawless miles over 2 twins, 1 TOB was my only real issue at 60 K, big fucking woop
