I did install gen1 spec CSG FLAs on my GR86 and ran them for a couple of months. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend.
The gen2 has a stiffer (and louder) body, amplifying the NVH in the front.

The V2 CSG Flex A has already been developed and released, and yes, would be quite a substantial improvement.

Let's also not forget to mention that you've had quite the rallying experience with your suspension; it's not surprising you had unusual NVH after that kind of abuse. Any damper that is not specifically designed for rally racing, regardless of make or model, should be immediately inspected and repaired after that kind of off.

Hard impacts are what introduce play into spherical top hats, such as what are used on the CSG Flex A.

Your conclusion is off base because you put blown/worn/damaged dampers on a new car to determine your conclusion. A more appropriate evaluation is putting on a brand new set or a refreshed one before making such a statement. Dampers are a consumable and they only have a limited window of performance depending on the wear and tear you put on them. Who knows what type of damage you've introduced to the dampers. I'm more impressed by the product that you were able to sustain a hard impact such to the suspension such as this and it still held up:

I would hope whatever new/more expensive set you got would at minimum outperform a worn one even though you're shilling for Annex...

I was referring to the V1 actually as I have yet to sell them and considering to use on my incoming gr86. Would be content as long as they can still provide any positive improvements over stock suspension.

They would. Start with the base settings, but you may want to run slightly more damping with the second gen chassis on a V1 CSG Flex A.

Adjust to taste, as individual preference will vary.

In a not-typical-on-the-internet fashion I got to admit that I probably misread that question (i.e. was wrong), and actually answered a different question:
"has anyone installed CSG Spec TEIN Flex A V1 on a gen2 car?"

Hopefully my answer makes more sense now.
In other words, if you want to get CSG Spec TEIN Flex A for a gen2 car, I don't see any reasons to go V1; get V2 instead.

Not quite correct.

My conclusion is based on a combination of things:
  1. The initial experience with CSG Spec TEIN Flex A V1 when they were brand new
  2. Common sense that a stiffer gen2 body is likely to increase NVH
  3. Experimental confirmation that a gen2 car had higher NVH than gen1 with the exact same set of coilovers

Totally!

I have a friend who recently installed V2s on his gen2. Last time I checked he was still figuring out the setup a bit, but I do plan to compare vs my Annex CSP soon.

Absolutely valid point, and I'm well aware of that.

However, one thing you're missing is that I already wasn't happy with NVH when the coilovers were brand new.
In fact, through minor setup adjustments over time I was able to eventually improve NVH compared to what it was initially, despite that off-track incident.

An independent party (someone Mike trusts, to the best of my knowledge) has driven my gen2 after I put my post-off-track-incident CSG Spec TEIN Flex A on it, and confirmed that the NVH is pretty typical for these coilovers even when new.

Yeah, that's good durability.

I have a set of Annex Clubsports on order. Went with 9K/12K swift springs. Excited to compare to my buddy who is gonna get the CSG Spec Flex A's for his Gen 2.

We have several customers who consistently run on the Nurburgring with our CSG FLA. Some have came from many notable and more expensive coilovers before settling with the CSG FLA as they can hop and ride berms much easily with better control than other systems. Just for reference of how the road conditions are like on the Nurburgring from a GT86 perspective.
