I still have 0 idea why Merc even wasted time putting them on meds considering the time left in the race.

Lol. That would be an awful lot of risk for pretty much no gain. Looks like it was determined to be a differential failure afterwards? Seems like a legit reason to stop to not damage the transaxle further.

Lol for real.

Especially considering the absolute worst case scenario finish for Max was 3rd. I’m a championship where he’s already leading by 90 points. Even without that safety car, I think Max could’ve passed at least 1 of the Mercs. He/RB had a clear pace advantage. I don’t think 1st was entirely impossible either.

It would’ve definitely been more entertaining.

I heard it from Magnus Walker but it now seems to be official.

Porsche calls off F1 deal with Redbull. Apparently not only did Porsche want to supply engines, they also wanted a part of the team, which RB did not feel like doing so, Porsche reports that it is still interested of joining F1.

Im sure Haas would be more than obliged. That is if they make it to 2026.

They can always supply for Audi's team since they are both under VAG anyway.

I am more interested in if the FIA are going to grant Herta a super license at this point. RB expects to hear this weekend. A lot of dominos are going to fall if it happens.

I think Haas is too tied to Ferrari and the success that brings them. Gene is a businessman who may bite for the funding it brings but given that RB couldn’t stomach the control Porsche wanted I doubt Gene and Guenther would be too happy with it either.

I think Williams is more likely to tie up with Porsche then anyone else at this point unless Alpine/Renault want out again.

What dominoes? I think the Gasly move is going to happen no matter what, he has no future at Red Bull and alpine are always willing to pay stupid money for non-superstar drivers, AT can bring up Lawson if Herta isn’t allowed to come in (which would be the dumbest thing the fia could publicly do this year).

All the other open seats don’t rely on the Herta license. Haas looking at Mick, Gio or Ric. Williams looking at Devries and probably Ric, AT will likely retain Yuki for another year, Alfa have no reason to not re-sign Zhou.

I think Gasly goes to Alpine too. But nothing is going to get announced till the Herta license is decided. Gasly is still contracted till next year for RB so until AT have a definitive answer on who is going to fill the other seat, we aren’t going to hear much. That’s what I mean about dominos. Everything is in place, we are just waiting on the first piece to fall Herta or otherwise.

Right now I don’t see how Williams can not sign Devries for next year. He spanked Latifi in quali today.

Boring end to the race.

I’ve been saying for a while now that if there’s a potential for a safety car when there’s less than say 5 or 10 laps, the race should immediately go to a red flag to ensure it ends under racing conditions.

Championship gap is even wider now, and Max has 11 wins with like 6 races left in the season.

Nyck De Vries 1st F1 race has 2 points up on his teamate…
Whatever ego Latifi had racing its just been crushed, add that he ran a clean race today makes it even worse.

The race was much finished when SC came out but yes that finish without the last lap racing soured the event.
