Its where I'm testing with right now, the WiringSpecialties harness is almost too short to route through there, it seems designed to split from behind the trans. I'll need to cut the rubber grommet open a bit more as the OD of the new harness is around 7/8"

Other possible locations I'm considering:
  • Low passenger side, near frame, where sound tube comes in.
  • Above transmission- behind the radio.

Stayed with running harness through modified grommet.
Got the ECU in, I think it'll fit next to the original ECU.
Engine is 90% wired up.
Got a quote on 3" DSS driveshaft - its $525 shipped

ECM Wiring Notes:
Some rather important ECM / ECU pin outs below:

When you're no longer using the factory harness for the engine. You need to reconnect three grounds to the ECM, highlighted in light blue below. (I did NOT note actual wire colors). Without these you will have no start, or fuel pressure.

For Canbus integration its A33 18/19 (highlighted in yellow).

ECM Ignition / Power at key is A33--27
Start should be A35--26 (highlighted in red). I have not personally tested this one yet.

Hmm. I never reconnected these grounds and car is running fine. Wonder why I haven't had an issue and it seems a lot of other people have. Did you add a pins and wire to ground it? or just cut and add to ground?

These grounds are Black/Red - Black/White - Black/Yellow and connect to AC1 plug (engine harness plug in engine bay) and ground at the injector harness. I know for a fact I haven't grounded these as I cut them short this last rebuild and used the wire for extending another part of my harness. Going to try grounding these and figure out what happens. Maybe the cause of my CEL?

I just took the wires from the ECU connector, added a terminal and grounded them to the body.

I should note I've updated my post above. A34-06 Is NOT a immediately off-key switched source. Testing two others tonight. Wish our factory diagram was a little easier to search. I'll be replacing my graphic/labels when I have it pinned down.

FIRST(ish) Start:

Bypassed the Fuel Pump Voltage Controller, its located passenger behind the side panel. Green wire to Red wire. Now gets constant 60lbs according to my pressure gauge on the fuel rail. You can chase this wire up to the passenger side to the passenger footwell and connect it to the GM fusebox/GM ecu for fuel control.

Had to tinker around in HP tuners to disable VATs.

Colin's MRS Canbus translator module is working wonderfully, I have a working fuel gauge, tach, temp, no check engine light, etc. He lives about 5 minutes from my garage, so he stopped by on his way home from work to help wire it up!

Remaining items:
1. A driveshaft
2. Figure out radiator lines
3. connect the clutch master cylinder.
4. Tidy up wires and put panels back in place.
Its so close to done!
