OK, Santa Clara Valley.

Yep, the East side of the Santa Clara valley could get a bit rough -

If you have a ceramic coffee mug, you have a stone for idle time touch ups.
You can even run a few swipes between hits of coffee if you aren't a klutz.

I have a ceramic sharpener here but this knife I daily carry is a pain to sharpen being the material is D2. I have a quick touch up sharpener with carbide and ceramic but my blade profile is to shallow for it

The best knife by far for holding an edge has been my 25-year-old Leatherman. It's bizarre how magically tough that blade is.

My D2 blade holds an edge for a good while but it never gets really sharp since it has a pretty coarse grain structure. It's a really hard blade though, something like 60-62 rockwell C.

Man, I just had the best time reading the several, umm, BBK...discussions. I don't spend as much time as I think I do on these forums.

I'm fascinated by the balancing act between hardness and toughness but I'm just a tourist. You're the real deal; a modern-day blacksmith.
