Yep. Things were a little different when I went to Portland. There were no free fruit plates there.

Speaking to two others did not mean the other dude knew. A nod of agreement means nothing. It is the physical equivalent of "Yes I read your email".

If he didn't understand, he should have asked me about it. But, that's fine. His mistake cost him his future with the company.

Or he could end up as YOUR boss someday.

Don't see that happening, since his contract ending on 22 December isn't being renewed, and he's not being offered to stay on.

I have seen some weird shit go down under these circumstances over the last 30 years.

Strangely, the crack and whore house sounds classier than the crack whore house.

A lot of talk about crack and whores today. Or is it crack whores?

The crack and whore house does have a nice ring to it.

The whole "Crack Whore House" came from a conversation at dinner where the bunch of us were trying to figure out where to go afterward. It was actually the Craft Pour House but somebody mispronounced it and it went downhill from there. By the time I messaged Andrew to come meet us it had become the Crack Whore House. Thus proving that even when a bunch of us are together in person we act like a bunch of 14 year olds. Things got even better when Ultra made a wrong turn in the parking lot right in front of all the guys. Best vacation ever!

It's when they start making problems for me, and don't want to own their actions that I start getting mad.

For example, here's the exact breakdown of events that led up to me being yelled at in the hotel parking lot by the problem child:

Approximately 2 weeks before this, one of my guys booked a flight from Edmonton instead of Grande Prairie. That's fine, he didn't know that he should have booked locally, instead of booking elsewhere. This just meant that to make his 6am flight, he had to leave town at 12am, and make a 4.5 hour, 450 km drive. Not ideal, and I let him know that kind of thing is not acceptable by any means in the company's eyes. This conversation was had with everyone on the crew as a witness, because I wanted them all on the same page.

Fast forward two weeks, and I asked what flight problem child booked. He booked the same fucking flight as the first guy. So first off, he straight up disregarded something I said. Second off, he cost the company a good chunk of extra money (paying for 2 trucks, and 2 people to make that drive, not to mention, parking in Edmonton costs twice as much as parking in Grande Prairie at the airport). So, I let him know that was absolutely unacceptable. I then had another conversation with the crew, to let them know that before they finalized any travel arrangements, they were to pass them up to me, and I would approve or deny the arrangements to avoid this debacle again.

That conversation with the entire crew ended up with problem child yelling something along the lines of "Stop wasting time, blah blah blah, no one gives a shit about what you're saying, blah blah blah, you're wasting time". The cherry on top was that he further wasted time, because he stopped for gas and coffee before actually leaving for work, while everyone else was already on their way to site, since they filled up with gas the night before.
Well, if that were the case, I would arrange to have that employee reassigned ........ OR ........ which reminds me of a back-in-the-day story.

It was a hot summer day in San Jose, CA, and the USAR (United States Army Reserve) meeting was coming to an end. After I dismissed the troops, we were walking across the street to a civilian parking lot, when this one soldier (not in my company) yelled at me ...... "if you weren't wearing those Captains bars, I would beat the shit out of you".

Well, I fixed that, I opened my car door, took off my cap and fatigue shirt, tossed it in my car, and headed his way ........ saying something like "here's your chance, mother fucker" (or something like that).

He quickly got into his car and sped off.

Yes, yes, I know that was not an action becoming of an officer ......

THE END

It was hilarious when that guy stalled his scooter and we all collectively yelled "Aaaauugh!"
