Personally I could probably like it if it wasn't for that damned droopy bulge smack in the center.

I'll hold final judgement til I see it in person. I like the wheels so far and the front end may look OK in the right color. I agree with @Tcoat that in the rendering the rear doesnt match the lines of the front now. I do like the headlights and the tails I need to see in person but kinda like them so far.

I'm looking at getting a second one eventually and at this point would prob just get a BRZ

in all seriousness it is what it is, you can like it or dislike it but until anyone see's it in person and drives it will you know. as @Tcoat said the pics tell a different story than in person does. Wait and see and make judgments on that. anyway, not like anyone can do anything about it. I say stay loyal to the 86. One rotten apple in some opinion, doesn't spoil the legacy of the brand. Other than the front bumper, I am actually liking the facelift model. The tailights will be changed out like how every is doing that already with the current models. Ill probably end up buying a facelift model, and would just give me more of an excuse to change the front bumper instead of getting a lip.

I don't think there will be a car that everybody wants (at this price point anyways), but this car gives us a platform to create what we want out of it to our liking and thats what I love about the 86s.

Wonder if it stayed the same weight as the front and rear bumpers grew, fancier front and rear lights, 'special material instrument panel' and steering wheel buttons. Power gains could just be a revised heads/exhaust and tune.

I'm impressed, not a total turnoff. No reason to turn mine in but nothing wrong with version 1.1.

exactly, for those who don't like the facelift it will still more than likely be interchangeable with the previous gen bumpers.

When I saw the revealing if the 2012/13 86 I didn't know how I felt about the design. The design eventually grew on me after reading numerous articles about how Toyota intentially designed the car to have a passive-aggressive design. The beauty was in the simplicity of the design, and I strongly felt that this was one of the best designed cars I've come to know--not the best looking, but the best designed.

I have become so attached to the original 86 design that it will always always be the one that comes to mind when someone mentions it. The reason why is because I've spent almost 5 years admiring this car's greatness, and the intentional simplistic design was part of what made this car so special.

It goes back to the statement that "the engineers have a purpose for every single aspect of the car." It's true that you can say that about any car, but as soon as you drive it then look back at all the development news articles and English-subtitled Japanese videos, it's hard to disagree with that said statement, and it all of a sudden makes sense. The car was designed and engineered to be pure.

The simplistic design had contributed to the purity of the car. The lack of steering wheel controls had contributed to the purity of the car. The moderately-powered naturally aspirated engine had contributed to the purity of the car.

With that said, when you wake up to a design like this, that's all new...you don't know what to think. My initial thoughts were that the car looked too childish and didn't give a statement about how pure the car is.

I am pretty sure that the design will grow on me in a different way the original design did. I do agree that this car is a bit more aesthetic on the front.

So I'll have to wait and see, and I'm sure other people feel the same way.

So turns out this was the Toyota, and not the Subaru.

Notice it even has the new 86 side badge masked over.

This also shows you where the fog lights will go on the new 86.

yeah thank you for reposting this because I now do recognize that the 86 badge is taped over and it make a whole lot of sense now!

LOL!
I have always said that with cars like this they should just make a "Mod Model". Comes with no taillights, headlights, wheels, cat back or intake but does provide a list of all the aftermarket manufacturers of those parts.
Could have the nicest rims or lights in the world but since they are stock they will suck to some and need to be changed out to make them stand out in the crowd. And isn't that why many buy these types of cars?

True, could be different cams, intake, exhaust design, ECU map. I'd like to know how they got to 205. The gear changes to me should make the feel of the car much snappier. Looking forward to driving one. Will give me an idea of what direction to go to keep my 86 all NA with just specific mods.

It also explains why the car had a BRZ-style side vent on it, partially masked over.
