@F1point4 - Can you upload a pic of how you have the camera on your window now? I have it where you said in the instructions, but I think I'm going to move mine up to the window dot matrix to hide the mount.

I just moved mine to the driver side and mounted up on the dot matrix... Makes gettiing to the Sd card a bit harder though. Might move to where @F1point4 has his and a little bit higher.

I kept mine on the driver side and mounted it really high, about a quarter inch from the top of the dot matrix.
Tested the video and you can see a little dot matrix on the top right and a part of the rear view mirror mount on the middle right of the screen, not a deal breaker though. I also added some black gaffers tape to subdue the gray and silver paint. You can barely even see the camera from outside now. *also, in regards to non working gps and led, my Ebay seller is sending me a replacement camera for exchange (with refundable deposit). @F1point4, I just want to say thanks. Your DIY was very helpful, especially since I'm not real comfortable with messing with electronics. Your tutorial really gives Enough detail that I didn't have to worry about installing the power magic pro "wrong."
My next project is a rear back up camera... |

I might take the gaffers tape off, looks a bit too ghetto.

Great writeup! Just got a question though.
Would wiring this (as you did) into the fusebox void warranty? I'm just imagining myself going in the dealer for a non-related warranty and the techs find the Power Magic box and traced it to the fuses.

I wouldn't worry. As a precaution just remove the add a circuit and replace the fuse before taking it in. --- F1point4

Alright; I called in Subaru yesterday evening and asked about the warranty concern.
They said anything that is non-OEM from factory and is put into the car is a potential ticket to void the warranty. (Of course after hearing this got me intimidated...) Now I know they would have to prove that the problem would be the dashcam itself that is causing the malfunction; but after opening up the under-dash panels and discovering the ECU and all its electrical components are lying right beside the fusebox... I did not install it just to avoid the potential hassle I can already see the dealer fussing about. Anyways, instead I went ahead and routed the wire up the windshield via auto-dim rearview mirror wire harness cover, up and across the headliner, down the A-pillar, and into the glove compartment to the 12V power port. I know I am now stuck with a Blackvue HD II without Parking/Event mode...but until Toyota/Subaru finish re-flashing their ECU softwares (due to idles & CEL problems), there won't be any extra wires hanging out of that fusebox anytime soon...
