HELP code P0102 engine goes on and off
hello guys this is my first post here.
i just bought a second hand toyota 86 2013, cars run well for a week then one day cruising on highway cars start to cut off and goes on and off for few minutes then engine light went on throwing code P0102. i went through the maf sensor and cleaned it, suspected water in tank and dropped few cleaners can in there, cars still drives ok for a day or two then stutters for another week two three times a day, even once shut down and wont start for 30 minutes. i noticed after the car stutters the engine light keeps on and car power goes down even when it drives well. i have obd2 scanner and i was monitoring the parameters only maf readings goes on and off when the car rocking on and off. i have checked all engine cabling and grounds on top side didnt go under car yet. when i was checking i found one of the drive pulley is loose so i tighten it up and replaced the belt cause it was bit damaged, cleared the code and went to drive the car perform best for a day then next day on way to work it gave me hell like i never had before rocking all the way to work, shutting off while on stop light wont start until two three times tries, stutters while driving even when flooring the pedal the car goes on then completely off that traction light comes off when the car goes down then disappear when car goes up again . if you have any advice about this issue i will much appreciate it . |

What did you use to clean the maf?
Does the maf reading fluctuate at idle? Check the air cleaner/box/tube/sound tube and make sure there are no leaks. Saudi Arabia is dusty, so I would check the air filter to see how it looks. |

swarb thanks for the reply .
i only used air cleaners didnt use maf cleaners yet, i was about to buy new one then my brother is a mechanic he said probably the maf is not the issue here cause he disconnected it while the car idling and the idle went a bit low but stayed on . yes the maf reading fluctuate every time the car stutter. i have cleaned the air filter also checked the tube nothing in there . |

Do you have an aftermarket intake?
Do you have an after market filter? Is it an oiled type? Any air leaks? sound tube/box etc sealed properly with clamps? Was the car modified before? does it have a tune? Wiring? Maf plugged in good? Check with multimeter if it is good. Use maf cleaner. All else fails, maf is probably bad. Swap with friend or find in junkyard or buy new one. |

car is stock no mods on.
i highly suspect this car was modded before because i can see the all the pulleys was removed and put back again . i dont think there is any air leaks but i will double check tonight . i will get maf cleaner and will try that too. ECU was tuned am not sure about that, but am planning to take it to tuner to have it checked . maf is pretty much plugged in right . i will try to find another one and swap as well . i will update the issue when am done with these tasks . |

How does your fuel pressure look when this happens?
One thing you don't want to do is start switching out components because if you get a bad part, but that part turns out to not be the source of your current problem then you'll have another problem stacked up. Have your maf sensor tested. |
