About the New Radio Unit/Navi Unit for FR-S
Hello everyone,
I just got my FR-S two weeks ago and when I got my car, the dealer didn't install the head unit of the radio. I was originally planning to install the stock one since the navi I saw from youtube videos is not very good. However, I found that the new navi shows on Scion's homepage is quite nice( Part number: PT296-00140). So I asked the dealer to order the part for me. Today I went to see the dealer and they actually opened the package of PT296-00140, seems like there is no display screen in it and dealer had no idea what to do. And then he checked online and said it needs another order for the screen of the navi which will cost another $500. (The PT296-00140 cost $1080 i think) So I am not sure if anyone knows how to get the new navi installed in your FR-S??? And how much it should be? ?? I mean if I have to spend $1080+$500 to get a Navi, I probably won't get it. Thanks and appreciate your help! T.Y |

I along with some others have it. There are two parts that you need to order. One being the head unit and the second being the Nav module (with the option for Entune or Bespoke).
I must say I am very happy with mine. Simple install that you could do yourself. Entune is pretty cool and the NAV is spot on. Check in the DIY threads there is one in there with the part numbers. Here is the Link to the thread. From the night I got mine in... And the part you need is this most likely...

I cant be of much help since I chose the base radio (which I recommend) but for the price your talking about I think you should just buy an aftermarket radio with nav that fits flush. I'm sure you can search around and see what others have said about the aftermarket ones.

Thank you so much! Just quick questions: what are the differences between Entune and Bespoke? And how much should I pay for both of them?
Yours look really nice! |

I will eventually get the OEM+ Audio upgrade. And they don't upgrade all the speakers only the tweeters plus add a sub and it is getting great reviews. I think the apps are different. Price wise I am no help there.

13 bepoke sucked but 14 featuring aha is really good. The part you got is the bespoke featuring aha and GPS module. You still need the touchscreen base radio for another $500 plus bones.

My 10 Series came with the 2014 6.1" touchscreen head unit, and I added the BeSpoke/Nav module a week later.
I am extremely pleased with the new head unit. Out of the box, this does 90% of what I wanted. HD radio, Bluetooth audio, and hands-free phone integration. Everything works flawlessly so far. Dramatic improvement over the 2013 units. I am also happy with the BeSpoke/Nav module, but mostly for the navigation. The navigation is quite nice, fast, and a bit smarter than I imagined it would be. The Aha Radio stuff is good, and supports Slacker, but no native Pandora or traffic like you get with the Entune module. Since the new head unit only runs about $500, and the BeSpoke/Nav module runs almost $1200, you have to think about what it is you want for the unit. If your funds are limited, you might be happy with just the head unit. Unless you really want the navigation, I can't say I would recommend the BeSpoke stuff for $1200. Is there much of a price difference between the BeSpoke and Entune modules? If the Entune is cheaper, that might be the way to go. |

I'm curious if anyone knows dealership costs on these units? I know there are people that work at Toyota/Scion who can spill the beans.
