Could also be way behind schedule even if still being released. The impact of covid on the industry is more far reaching than people want to believe and we are not out of the woods yet (as the US has clearly shown us). The economy may simply not support toy cars soon.
Would be happy to have that theory debunked though.

That just mean it's not perfect yet. The 86 will be a perfect car with more power. Around 300 HP like the Porsches.

Adding a factory turbo system, with a warranty, just means more $$$.

How much are you willing to spend on a new turbo 86?

The Supra 4-cylinder starts at around $42k.

Since when does it need 300hp to be perfect? Most twins I see are stock. It is a fun cheap commuter car if we are being honest.

Mazda has sold more Miatas this year than last year. It’s possible toy cars might be the perfect item right now. Stay inside or go play?

We speculated earlier that it would be a twin charged V6.

86 will be new halo car.

What if due to Covid19 Supra 4 cyl sold for ~ $40k? (not far above $30k US)

Would that quiet the no turbo complainers? Probably the most vocal wouldn't buy a Supra still. Or they'd lament BMW...

Personally I wouldn't touch a BMW anything.

OK, so you're off the list lol. Personally, I'd jump on it, except it would have to be my year round daily.
My only apprehension is Toyota gouging on parts as they do here compared to Subaru dealers. Stung me once on a starter motor I smoked (my fault, story) And also Toyota's inability to attain best competency on BMW cars.
Then, there's the insults from arrogant service manager, Klaus. lol I joke, I joke!!
