K24 FRS TA build
Hello Gent's im Trip
This is my 2013 Scion FRS track toy. I have done a few years of HPDE & autocross & 1 year of Time Attack with her. I have tried to keep her basic & reliable over the years & now im ready to ramp it up a lil. The plan is to do a N/a Honda K24 swap into it to compete in the Gridlife Club TR class. So if you want to Follow along I will have a full video series of the whole process but will try to remember to update it here as well. IG: https://www.instagram.com/trip_skywalker/?hl=en Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/tripskywalker Edit I finished my build & have compressed my Long build series down to a 10 min video. Next on the Agenda for the k24 frs swap was to replace some the old parts with some fresh new stuff. Even though most of it was probably perfectly fine i wanted to have a better piece of mind since i do not know the history of this motor.
I installed a: Type S oil pump Time chains all the guides tensioner water pump oil pan baffle Cam gear Old Stuff: new stuff: Here is the Video of this process: |

Im trying to Catch up the Forum post hence why all the back to back post.
So on Sept 1 21 i was able to Order my #fa20deletekit / FRS / BRZ K swap kit from Kpower https://kpower.industries/collection...ersion-package I ordered to full kit minus the AC stuff & shifter plate since i have a IRP shifter. I also figured out it was a dumb idea to go with a JDM k24a because i had to replace the water pump housing & all the attached components. So new Alternator, water pump, belt tensioner & belt. Here is the Video of that process. But now we wait Last edited by hedtrip; 11-14-2021 at 04:25 PM. |

Curious why was it a dumb idea to go with k24a? what would you have done otherwise, does the K20A2 solve those financial issues?

I see, I thought the K24A2 would be more expensive with lower torque compared to JDM does the cost basically even out after the extra $100s for components?

Not to bad if it is a TRUE JDM motor...low mileage guaranteed, which means you didn't end up with a "low mileage" motor to find the crankshaft is bad.
Will keep close attention to your feed! Was thinking of going same route as you for Gridlife or similar.

Im not A k series expert by any means still learning as i go.
But there 2 diff jdm 24a's 1 of them has a 3 lobe cam & is pretty mush the same as the usdm k24a2 with 200 hp but the 2 lobe cam is only 160 hp ....& i just realized i have the 2 lobe =( So yeah going JDM you have alot better chance at get a low mileage good motor but you are not garenteed to get the one you want. |
