To replace rims or not replace?
Got in an accident awhile ago with 4 rims getting damage, two had about 2 inch long gashes on the lip, and the other two had scratches and minor chips. The body shop is quoting me $400 to fix them all. Wondering if I should keep the money for the future when I get rpf1's or just let them repair it for now.

I'm personally a fan of the stock wheels, so I can't help you.

When do you plan on getting new wheels? If soon (1-3 months), then don't bother repairing. If it's a year down the road, I would.

I would just leave them if I was planning on changing anyway. Give it a bit and you will never even notice the marks anymore.
I gotta ask though. How do you damage all 4 rims in an accident?

I was thinking a couple of month down the line, also depending how much they were paying for the damage on the rims. Quote:

Here are some pictures: Front wheel Back wheel The other two are just minor scuffs and chips. Do you guys think the wheels are even repairable? Considering that the wheels have grooves in them. Don't know how they would pull off that texture. This was the damage to the car, from the front bumper all the way to back, I was quoted $2800 at the beginning and now its bump up to only $3800. I was expect it to be higher than that. Here is what it looks like now, they told me most of the dents were pop out, don't know how they manage to do it, but they said they are not replacing the door or the quarter panel, just the front fender. Don't know how well this will hold up or should I press on for them to replace all the panels. |

You are actually better off if they can avoid replacing at least the rear quarter as long as the repair doesn't consist of them just slapping in bondo. To replace the panel they have to cut and weld and this destroys the rust proofing where it is done.

] You wont need to replace the rims unless they are leaking air. Plastic dip it black and put a gloss over it. |

Heads up, I had damage where the car was backed into and the handle was hit. Even after all the bodywork, the handle was still indented into the body and they couldn't get it properly square with the rest of the door. They had to replace the door. My damage was also far less than yours as well.
As your car is white, it will hide imperfections well. That doesn't mean you should be looking for them and get it fixed right. Mine is WRB and it stuck out from over 50 feet away... |

There's no way I'd pay $400 to repair stock wheels, you can pick them up as new takeoffs for $300-400 all day long.
Either pick up a set of OEM replacements cheap, or wait until you can buy the wheels that you want. Personally I swapped to a pair of '13 WRX OEM takeoffs that I picked up for $400 because I wanted the extra width while maintaining a OEM style. |
