Found a couple pics on my phone... nothing exciting just trackspec install and fixing the EDFC wiring after the alignment shop screwed it up by not disconnecting it before adjusting the dampers (right height). I did inform them of the wiring and need to disconnect and cut the zip ties securing the wiring.. sigh.

Also stopped by the trailer to grab the ruckus battery to charge it up and took another pic of the car to prove it hasn't been stolen out of the trailer yet! Plus a random beer pic from the track.

haha California is a bit of a commute for that.

If you have a cut off wheel it's pretty easy though.

Ok so some updates on this shitbox..

First.. the throwout bearing now makes noise. It didn't when parked a few months back. It does now. Awesome.

Also, the trailer is either leaking or the wood floor is soaking up water so I need to remove all the cabinets and refloor the front. That is going to suck ass but will be a good winter project because there's no way in hell I'm doing it until Jan or so when it's a nice cool 70-75 degrees out.

Anyways picked up a 9 Lives Racing wing awhile ago (69" body width, mega end plates) but didn't want to tune the car around it without front aero. I was waiting for their sturdy bois splitter but got bored so I ordered the Verus splitter, canards and splitter end plates. Went to install everything today to find out that I was missing quite a bit of hardware items for the splitter (like 7 bolts and 9 nuts) so I did install the canards (no pic) and the wang.

The wang presented some complications in that we had a perfectly good red wingless trunk lid to use instead of my trunklid with whatever scion accessory spoiler it had on it.. but.. well changing the lock cylinder is a little annoying, then I have two bottle openers riveted to the license plate area, plus some stickers including the uber limited Shiba Racing sticker from @ichitaka05 - that sealed the deal so we installed it on my original trunk lid.. and let me just say.. I think we integrated it quite nicely lol (it was ugly without integration due to holes and crap).

Burnouts on the trunk!

1 piece rear spoiler converted into a 3 piece.. "precision" cut.. aka "gudznuf"

And a pic in the style of the classic **** pic to make it look bigger than it is..

Going out of town for a bit but sent Verus an email about the hardware.. hopefully it'll be here when I get back so I can finish the front aero.

Also for that throwout bearing.. it's been in the car for 2 weekends I think.. brand new OEM Subaru with brake new fork springs, pivot ball, etc. Lubricated correctly with the correct lube. Car lost clutch like it did before at the end of the last event so assumed it just needed to be bleed again but now I suspect something else. Time for a new input shaft maybe plus a twin disk setup or something else more expensive cause I'm sick of touching it.

Thanks to @Opie for help tonight.

it's been awhile..

lightweight battery was installed with the most overkill mount...

Some pics with the front aero:

The ACT clutch and/or throwout bearing completely failed back in November. I haven't touched the car since due to other cars/priorities. I'll fix it over the summer so that it's ready for the winter track season down here in the south. Until then I'm tracking the champcar instead.

Oh also here’s it’s fastest laptop at Sebring with the Tein SRC coilovers:

In an update that should suprise no one, I haven't touched the car at all yet except for using it as a shelf in the shop to place parts/etc on.

I did however finally order a new OEM disc, PP, PP bolts, pilot, TOB and new verus pivot and fork (it already has a verus fork but it came out of a wrecked parts car so just replacing it anyways). Oh and ordered a new input shaft nose piece from Subaru long ago.

Going to move cars/storage around starting this weekend, swap coilovers on the graffiti ITR (in case @coolhandluke ships his BRZ to cali and needs a track car to run at Sebring in December - easier to setup the type-r than fix the civic race car at this point) and start getting this car ready for possibly Road Atlanta thanksgiving weekend or at least Sebring Dec 9-11 including the night event.

Other changes I *may* make by then are another set of GY SC3Rs, new bearings, new ARP studs, 4.3 diff/subframe swap, trans/diff fluid, clutch line (shotgun approach on the shitty act clutch problem - even though I think the 2017 TOB was just defective and exploded on it's own).

Maybe I'll post pics of the storage/workshop space instead of working on the car.. that does seem easier. #teamlazy

It's always a safe assumption that you've bought a car since we've last spoke.

Finally worked on the FR-S this past week or so... lots of clutch related carnage..

First though I had to finish swapping suspension on the ITR.. plus it's always good to post a pic of the ITR..

Of course the FRS was acting like a shelf like normal.. like it's done for over a year now since I last actually touched the car.

Got it up in the air and started pulling off parts to get the trans out.. one of the first parts off was a good indicator of what was to follow.

And trans dropped.. just a little bit of wear and stuff..

ACT pressure plate

Disc looked fine

Flywheel showed some damage.. and evidence of a broken bolt.

And the throwout bearing.. and it's assorted remaining parts. This TOB had maybe 50 miles on it.

Then this is how it sat for a week or so until @Opie and I worked on it again tonight.

And tonight after installing parts.. I didn't take pics of most of the parts. Replacement parts were: used OEM flywheel, new OEM disc, new OEM PP, new OEM flywheel and pressure plate bolts, new OEM TOB, new OEM springs, new Verus forged fork, new Verus fork pivot ball, new OEM master cylinder, new OEM slave cylinder, new MTEC clutch line (for the style points), random starter from a parts car, random trans from a parts car (no idea how good or bad that trans is.. will find out at Road Atlanta I guess).

Trans in

Car back on the ground

Haven't driven it but did connect the battery and it started right up. I failed to have good brake fluid in the shop (still sitting in the trailer and at my house) and the bleeder bottle was in the trailer also so hopefully tomorrow or wednesday we will see if it moves under its own power again. Hopefully it does so I can track it at Sebring when @coolhandluke comes to collect his car. Otherwise I'll just buy some other car to track. Or fix the ITR. Or fix the Civic.

Oh.. for the failure.. not sure if the bolt failed first or if the TOB exploded first. The TOB did clearly explode on track, felt and heard it. This car has ALWAYS had hydraulic clutch issues where it would stop disengaging when it got hot. Change fluids etc and it would be good for a day at the track then start doing it again.. hence the shogun approach on parts. This car drove perfectly on the track one day then few weeks later we unloaded it to install aero and immediately upon startup in the trailer the TOB was making all the normal death noises.. tracked it anyways and yeah.. it blew up.

Hopefully it's problems are behind it.

Happy to hear. The clutch and throw out bearing really went out in glory. At least it lead to good photos...

I'm glad to hear the car is back up and running. I'm looking forward to Sebring in a few weeks.
