Bottom line is basically an Evora evolution. For everyone hoping for an Elise/Exige replacement (myself included), that's a bit of a disappointment.

Weight is slightly higher than the Evora, at 1400 KG (3086 lbs), and the overall dimensions are slightly bigger than the Evora, but it lost the +2 seats (making the Lotus Evora and the Ferrari Mondial the only mid-engine 4 seat cars).

The existing supercharged V6 will put out 400 HP (which is lower than the max output in the European Evora (at 430)), and the discussion in the forums is that this engine won't be able to give OEM power of more than 450 anyway. Lotus did claim that the V6 will only stay for a short time due to emission regulations, so that might explain why they're not keen on squeezing out more power out of it.

The now confirmed AMG M139 is detuned here to around 360 HP (down from Mercedes' 382 on non-S and 416 on S models), probably to not outshine the V6 (which would have a higher MSRP), with claims of a different tune more inline with the spirit of Lotus (might be meaning high revving and focusing on the top end?).

The V6 version goes on sale first (but no date yet), with the I4 added in summer of 2022. Price is expected to be around $90,000 for the V6 and $70,000 for the I4.

Very hot. But why get this over a Cayman or 911, other than just a desire to be a bit different? Porschiness outshines Lotusity.

Ah yes different is good. I’ve recently traded in my Gt4 for a 991.2 911 Gts. As I age, my needs differ. Now I love and appreciate all the extra comfort and amenities as my bones agree. Andddd for the msrp of around 70k to start, sign me up lotus! Lotus pulled a page from the corvette and said we will give people exotic sugar by the pounds. Look at all those vents and cut outs!

Basically an upgraded Evora at a lower price, seems to be aimed at the Porsche Cayman GTS/GT4. This is kind of what the Evora should have been from the start, but they didn't have enough money for R&D. If people are snapping up all the Porsches in sight, I suppose this one should also sell, but I was looking for something more like the Elise.

I have to think hard about what old car I want to heavily modify now lol. My Aston Martin is a treat to drive but it lacks the masochistic excitement factor.

Good to be different, but the main attraction for me has that Lotus have always placed the driving experience as the number one focus. Not gadgets, bling, specs, cup holders etc. Sure, a Porsche would likely have a better interior than the Lotus, but driver involvement / feel has always been a higher priority for me. Never been a fan of the look of a Cayman, 911s are a different price bracket. Also, love the reliability and cheaper running costs with the Toyota drivetrain.

I’ve owned a couple of Elises over the years, and there’s not much else that offers the same feel / involvement. The Evora is a much better all rounder and fits our kid in the back!
