True, the CAL ID is locked for the ECU right? I have a 2013 ECU with a 2016 motor w/ a 2016 E85 flex tune loaded. Its been awhile since i loaded the tune so ima go back and double check the cal-id.

Got a notice to smog my car for re-registration and looks like i got selected to go to a STAR station. I think these are more tightly controlled/inspected smog stations and based on basic research i think certain models of cars are selected to go to a STAR station because they are more likely to fail or more likely to have some funny business that the state doesn't trust all smog techs to look for.

what they don't know of course is that i can put headers on right after i pass. then it looks like 2 years of no torque dip lol

Yea what I get to look forward to in the next few months. The main thing is the flex fuel kit that's gonna fail me I bet. Header is easy to remove

Why would flex fuel fail you? Isn’t E85 closer to carbon neutral when compared to petrol?

I believe it's a change plus it pulls it 0-5volt signal evap signal causing this to show not ready. I am hoping I can reconnect this signal wire and just leave the flex fuel sensor. Any change good or bad is not allowed in CA

For me doesn’t make sense, they should praise you and give you some carbon credits

Just passed my smog, pretty much stock other than some Crawford Power Blocks. I had a catch can, which I de-installed before the test. No issues.

I just got the old FRS smogged today for the first time, everything went smoothtly. Car passed, no rollers, no lift. Just popped in the OBDii and blipped the throttle a few times, visual inspection and I was done.

I knew there was nothing on the car that would fail smog, but you never know. I was concerned I might have to show my J02 recall certificate (which I have) however he didn't need to see that. The guy said my catback was totally fine. This was in Orange county (south) Ca.
