TIL to never, ever use pepboys for vehicle maintenance. my trucks previous owner used them exclusively. every single thing he had them 'repair' has failed in less than 3 years. today, finally worked through the last two items i haven't had time to work on before...

TIL why programmers use "libraries", so much easier even though you don't learn anything.

It's easier until you run into integration issues...

I don’t know what that means but it sounds like it sucks.

Well integration leads to better schools so that you can learn more.

it's the software equivalent of making a square peg fit in a round hole. except you've got no idea it won't fit just by looking at it, and to trim things to size, you must go through 500+ lines of text in a code editor, line-by-line sometimes to find the spot that doesn't fit.

i like my physical hammers and chisels better.

...then try to run it on hardware it was never really meant to run on using janky-AF OS and firmware/bios configurations, and then basically disable 1/4 of said library functions because certain mofos said you have to because it makes their job easy. Then you have to explain to the coder that "Works on my machine" doesn't field a system, which is significantly easier than telling the customer that the shit application they gave you to put in 2 weeks before they wanted the final product delivered not only doesn't work the way they said it would, but also breaks their own damn rules.

All this just to have some security schmuck say you have a buffer overflow which results in RCE. Then he expects you to be grateful for pointing it out, and asks for a bounty.

Today I learned that just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
First sunny and 50 degree day. Thought I'd wash my car since it hasn't seen sunlight since last spring.

Pushed the car outside thinking it felt really tough to push.
Brakes are so rusted, I can't get it back in the garage alone. RIP

I never brought the hose in for winter, I got completely soaked from the spigot connection at the hose end when I turned on water pressure. It's still completely frozen...RIP

Sounds like at least one very bad day that was 6+ months in the making... I am assuming your car doesn't run at the moment.
