Just replaced my key fob's battery for the first time in 4 years of ownership.

It still "worked" but there were times I had to really be closer to the car for it to work.

Was pretty quick and easier than expected.

Had to do that a few months back myself. I don't think my original car battery is gonna make it another winter though.

OK...I think I just did something dumb.

TBH, a Porsche is more fun to drive and approximately equally comfortable, but the Aston looks cool, and I've been drooling over them for many years.

Honestly, sitting in that thing, I feel like I can't drive it around with any kind of peace of mind, because it just feels so ridiculously opulent and decadent. I keep checking the mirrors to see if people with pitchforks and torches are out to get me yet. It's mostly just going to sit parked and hopefully increase in value (they're pitifully cheap considering the 130k original price), but hopefully I work up the courage to drive it once in a while.

The early service records aren't exactly confidence inspiring, seeing how many things had to be fixed under warranty, but I guess that's the British car experience. Hopefully nothing expensive blows up on me XD

.
Congrats. They are pretty well priced these days. Isn't the drivetrain supplied by Mercedes? I would imagine they would be pretty reliable?

The new ones use the MB V8TT, the old ones used a modified Jaguar AJ engine. The Jag engine doesn't have a horrible reputation, but Doug Demuro had some VVT issue within 30 days of buying his that was several k to fix... IIRC thermostats often go bad, but it's not that expensive to replace.

The famously expensive item is of course the clutch, which is something silly like 20 shop hours of labor. I do really want a GT4 flywheel and clutch package though.

The car always lived in mild weather, so hopefully there's no wear on any oil pumps or bearings in the engine. A rebuild is like 20k, and a used engine is 8k :/ Apparently, a set of oil pump gears for the main pressure pump is 1500 alone.

Apparently, the dealer noted that the shocks were leaking, so I will probably have to cough up a few k for that at some point, and I am probably going to swap out some fluids to ones I think are better and might spend money on some paint correction if I can stomach the quotes lol.

Meh I just replaced the car when the fob battery started to go. Much easier.

Painting a house sucks big time. Between that and getting the yard ready for summer, my body is hurting.

Beautiful car, but come on, get out there and drive it. Heck, drive it in the rain and get it dirty, that's what cars are for. It's unlikely you're going to make money on it, it's probably worth more now than it will be, unless you lock it in a barn for 30 years, then maybe it will be worth more.

You bought it because you wanted to drive it, not because you wanted a showpiece for your driveway, right?

I'm still on my original battery after almost 9 years.

Do they still come fully equipped? Did it have the option package?
