Not to mention what will happen to prices as they move forward.
Future of the 86 in the US... "Yeah we've been getting complaints from our now much older demographic about how the 86 handles in rain/snow, isn't quiet enough, and only takes premium. We've taken these criticisms into consideration and decided to change it to FWD, weigh it down with noise dampening material, and de-tune it to run on 87... but it still looks cool."

You can look on scion/Subaru's website for those prices, BRZ is the better option price wise.

Not likely but also entirely possible that the end date for Scion was set before they ever even announced it existed. The companies look out far further than it may seem to many. There are no knee jerk reactions or sudden changes possible in the industry.

That is very true, even the change over to absorb the iM, iA and FR-S had to have been well planned because retooling takes time even though there counter parts to toyota etc are the same. Also I have a feeling Scion as a brand was under some sort of probationary period.

The FRS is supposed to be lower than the BRZ here in the US too. But because of Scions pure price BS.

Subaru dealers give much better deals on the BRZ because you can actually negotiate and get some good add-ons for the same price as a base FRS. The Scion dealers just sell it at the sticker price.

I get why people think they can change things on a whim because that is what appears to happen at the consumer level. If exposed to the reality of the big automotive companies you quickly learn that nothing is done on a month to month or even year to year basis but plans actually span many years and even decades.
Yep, takes months/years just to change something as benign as a sunvisor or the oem windshield wipers

They are talking about older people who wanted to feel young again and bought an FR-S. I for one can gladly say that I had my GF's grandpa drive my FR-S and he said it reminded him of his Celica Supra that he had, and he loved driving it.

You also get the BS from subaru dealerships who mark up their price for no good reason. I have yet to find a good subaru dealership near me that hasn't marked up the price on the BRZ yet.

Pretty sure that's automatic 2016 FRS pricing and manual 2015 BRZ pricing. At least on the website... although Scions "build your own" deal isn't working right now.

Things I'm looking forward to:

1) Pure Price disappears and goes to hell as some failed sales technique, so haggling becomes a thing again for lower prices when you reach the shady finance guy, meaning the BR-Z will be same in price in the GT86 (just like the UK)
2) More standard stuff everyone else in the world gets but we don't i.e. D2S projector HID, the 86 airbag etc, heated everything etc.
3) More model versions i.e base, "GT" etc

Needless to say it's possibly a good day for car enthusiasts
