Oops! too many open tabs. That previous pic of the quilted white gold (toilet paper) reminds me of how Doug DeMuro used to use Costco bulk toilet paper to rate the capacity of a trunk in his reviews. Nice to know the twins can sorta hold their own. Stay safe! |

Not sure if this counts since you need the seats down, but you can get 1 Suzuki DR650 in there with a little disassembly.
And some overflow into the front seat. You'll still have enough room for all the tools you need to put it back together in your box, your riding gear, and 7 days worth of clothes. This came about when I bought a parts bike two states over and was too cheap to rent a truck. After I did it once and it worked, I made vacation plans and stuffed the primary ride in the trunk and off I went. |

Hey, GEN2 owners, any examples of what you have been able to cram into your trunks?

This might be a good place to bring up the subject of the rear seat. First, the existence of a vestigial rear seat in any sports coupe for the purposes of better insurance rates is a myth. When you give the VIN to the insurance company, you are found out and they have all the data they need to bend you over. I have a friend that had a Lexus with a rear seat that was about as useful as the one in the Twins and judging by the quality of the upholstery, he paid a premium for it. For any adult to ride in the back seat it would have to be a last resort situation like everyone in the car pool has their car in the shop or it has been repo'ed. You could put kids back there, but I read that not every child safety seat will fit. If they are old enough to sit in back without, there has to be a small window of opportunity because the little buggers will grow like a weed. I have looked into rear seat delete kits for my Gen 1 and now I have an interest in the idea again, but I have not been impressed with the quality and utility of what was available. If there was a bit of concealed clean storage space in back that would still allow the rear 'seat back' to fold down that would be cool. Then there is a bit more space that could be used in the spare tire well that is lost because of the insert that is there to support the trunk floor. That one might be easy to work out. I would create an open insert that would serve to support the floor, but would accommodate extras stuff that I probable didn't need anyway.
