Swoosh noise headers
So i installed my headerback exhaust around 12 days ago. Install took a while but thats just because of inexperience. Anyway there was one bolt that I had trouble reaching so I hand tightened it as much as i could and i couldn't fit my wrench or ratchet so i found some tiny vice grips and tried to tighten it further with that. No leaks everything was fine.
But now im starting to hear swoosh noises as if air was escaping. I've read that its normal for the tomei uel headers to make this noise because of the thinner metal used, but im so paranoid. So, whenever im free im going to attempt to tighten everything again, but im wondering if you guys have any tips or suggestions on reaching that one bolt? |

Don't use vice grips
Get a socket extension get back up there and do it right. Torque those bolts where the header bolts into the block. Do it in the right pattern too (look for a YT video on how to do this). You WILL have CELs and all sorts of issues if you get it wrong. |

I used a universal and a wobble extension to get to that nut. a crows foot would be better, but I didn't have one.

Make sure the flange nuts at the exhaust ports are properly torqued... but that's not the problem. Exhaust leaks at the ports make a popping sound. I've only heard the whoosh in 2 situations, The first was when the flange nuts between my mid and rear pipe fell out. The other is the normal sound that every thin-walled header makes.

What "one bolt" are we talking about? All the bolts to the block are super easy to reach with just a ratchet with extension. The bolts I have a hard time with are the ones on both ends of of the over pipe. I would love to get a torque wrench on them but there isn't enough clearance. I hate torquing on swivels because it throws off the spec. At least with a crowfoot you can do the math to get the correct torque spec on the bolt. I need to get a some crowfoots for my tool box.
