Keep in mind the edelbrock kit ships with a 3.25" pulley which is ~82mm. It uses the same Eaton core as the Harrop kit. Since both kits retain the stock crank pulley they should both produce similar amounts of boost for the same pulley diameter. Of course, the only way to ensure its safe is to put it on and have your tuner datalog a few pulls.

Technically, yes. But if you just want to be able to cruise around on 91 aki before filling up on e85 for track day, you'd want to be able to not worry about detonation at all throughout the entire engine rpm range.

I am running 700 cc injectors to go with e85, but the car is also a daily. No sense in going crazy with a small pulley that doesn't keep things manageable on a lower octane fuel (though this may not be an issue at elevation).

Well I did not know that. So the edelbrock kit as it comes from the shop will be hitting around 11psi at the top of the rev range?

That should be all the proof we need that it's safe on stock internals, given I've not heard of any rods going with that kit. And I'm sure quite a few of those people run it on 91.

Trefoil, if you were dropping a pulley size you'd need a retune anyway so I'm sure your tuner could give you a safe tune for 91 at that boost level.

Makes you wonder what will come in the CARB kit if they ever get approved. And will they do a high boost CARB approved kit too.

Make sure to verify the edelbrock boost levels. While the rotors are the same the rest of the system is not. There could be more pressure drop over the edelbrock intake manifold vs the harrop or something else that prevents this from being a simple apples to apples comparison. Always check with your tuner and examine datalogs.

That's a good point. Depending on where I looked, it seems the edelbrock produces around 10-12psi as standard. The harrop with standard pullley produces 8.7psi, according to the manufacturer.

If VitViper got 11.5psi with the 85mm pulley, then maybe the edelbrock kit does have slightly higher post charge restriction vs the harrop. But I doubt there is much between them.

I'm itching to drop to the 85mm pulley and get a header.

You can add one of my shop cars to the list! Installed Thursday, and will get tuning with Delicious Tuning next week. Starting with the standard largest pulley. The car will run primarily on e85, and will see a good mix of Track/Drift and some street driving. We paired the SC with Harrop's oil cooler as well.

Big thanks again to Harrop and Delicious Tuning for making this happen! Very excited to test the car out here in the CA heat.

On my side, I've just finished the installation of my harrop kit.
80mm pulley, RON98 fuel (equivalent to AKI93/94), full decat exhaust (ACE anaconda header) and tune by delicious.

I'll go to a dyno to assess the output, but I guess i would be at around 320 HP at the crank. The injectors are now at their limit, so I would need to upgrade them if i want to move to a 75mm pulley or smaller (75mm pulley being already ordered).

Very nice. Is that the larger or smaller ACE anaconda? Very interested to see your dyno numbers - I think you'll be more than 320 at the crank. Maybe partly dependant on if your exhaust is 2.5 or 3".

Will you worry about throwing a con rod when you are running the 75mm pulley?

It is the larger version of the anaconda.
I'm a bit worried for the gearbox and the rods being honest, so i might delay the installation of a smaller pulley to next year (with a sequential gearbox and built motor)

Count me as another proud owner of this kit. Just got it back for the guys out at Moto-East on Monday. The car feels great on pump gas haven't had a chance to try her out with E85.

Thanks to Phil for all your help.
