$40k drive away for base is not a surprise tho. this is more or less what i expect as the maximum.

$40k for GTS Auto driveaway? I'll definitely bite no questions asked!

Not to nit-pick but it really annoys me that people call it Eighty Six, especially those supposedly car journalists.
The car is called Hatchi Roku, which is Eight Six and not Hatchi Ju Roku (Eighty Six).

Rant over.
Thanks for listening :P

3. Make sure that the first car allotment is very small. Keep the car in high demand to the 6 or 7 people per dealership that want one.
4. Take their deposits now but don't give them a price yet. Wait until the first shipment arrives. This adds to the buildup.
5. Now we have the upperhand. Charge them +50K for the high end spec. +45K for the low end spec. The people who reserved really want this car and they know that the numbers are limited. If they back out, the next people in line will take the bait.
6. Rinse repeat every shipment of cars until the quota is met.
Its sad that there is still no info on pricing.
If they let us know the price much earlier, at least we can start saving up or start a budget earlier on.
Eventho I've already placed a deposit down months ago, chances of me going through with it is pretty slim now coz the longer they take to price the car, the longer I have to talk myself out of it...
Someone else can now have my 86 (EIGHT SIX)!

I am curious as to why everyone seems so set on getting the GTS-spec, and seems disappointed at the price.

What's wrong with the base GT? They are mechanically identical (I assume the GTS doesn't have an LSD), with a few different trim pieces and a leather interior.

If it was me, and I had to choose between a GT at $40k drive away and no 86 because $45k was too much for me, I'd choose the GT model. Hell, I'd even go the BRZ. I don't need the leather. The stock wheels and exhaust are things that could be changed down the track as more money became available. Et cetera.
You have to think of whether you *really* want the car, and to me, if the answer is yes, then the top-spec car isn't necessarily the only answer.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if the ~$35k pre-driveaway price is accurate. It'll put the 86 right at the top of the list for my next car!

Another person reading all the stupid information from the Motor Magazines... :S.

I want the GTS for the following reasons:
High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlamps

Smart Entry/ Start
Dual Zone Auto Climate Control A/C

Yes they are gimicky and what not but I plan to keep the car for a very long time and I want it to feel as modern as I can for as long as I can.

Option that come with GTS are:
17″ Alloy Wheels (1k)
High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlamps (500)
Daytime Running Lamps (100)

Utility & Comfort:
Smart Entry/ Start (350)
Dual Zone Auto Climate Control A/C (unsure...I will say $750)
Driver & Passenger Seat Heater (1k)

Audio:
6.1″ Sat Nav Audio(500)

As you can see these is not 10k worth of add on here.

All my guess adds up to 3200. If you have a better idea on these option prices let me know.

i agree totally.....whats it like to drift with out an LSD?.... not that I'm going to drift in it but I know from my BMW the LSD was excellent.

Questions........
How much do we have to pay for this to be put in the car then?
Will it have to be ordered from factory?
Did the rest of the world get one standard???
Warrantee's???
