Innovate SC Install, Testing & Tuning
The kits showed up, and after catching up we went to put one in in the after hours. Instructions are great, but there's a few little tidbits to keep in mind. Here's the saga in pictures.
Some notes: Pry the top "lid" as pictured. This keeps the tabs from bending in the back. The picture in the manual is not very clear about which hose gets the extension hose. The one going to the intake is the one that gets the one with the barb. The other one routes back to the SC. Make sure the fuel hoses and lines are under the blower before you bolt it down. We did have to file the alternator for about 30 seconds to remove .5mm of material. So have a file. DO NOT attempt to skip this if needed. Check for fuel leaks IMMEDIATELY. Though the o-rings at the top of the injectors usually can be re-used, despite taking all the precautions and being gentle we had a nice spray. Car has 11k on it. $12 each from the dealer, or you can chance it with a generic. Use assembly lube or something similar. The hood padding as others have said can stay on. It will get the "love bite" from the SC pulley so we left it on. Tuning wise it took a couple of hours but we have a solid tune now. Going to put it on the dyno this afternoon and see where are are at. I'm pretty sure we'll top 220 on pump gas and stock header/exhaust, but it is hot and muggy out today. Going to bring some E85 jugs to test with if we have time! |

Did you pull your DI Injectors while in there?

Nope, haven't had the need to but it is simple enough if needed. Honestly this has to be one of the easiest installs on an aftermarket FI system I've done on an import. The hardest part is mounting the SC (have a helper) and double checking hose routing. Now that we got that figured out it should be a one day job.

For those installing (and I don't know how important this fitting is) but this guy has come loose after driving the car for a month. Might want to check that it is tight before installing the sc. You cannot tighten it while it is on the car because it cannot rotate fully (it is blocked by manifold casting and other fittings etc).
Is it important that this thing is tightly sealed? It is screwed in there but it moves left to right semi-freely as if it needed 1/2 to 1 more turn. It is pre-sc so it sees vacuum only. Is it maybe supposed to swivel? |

I have asked for this multiple times but can you post up some of your log info, like IAT, oil temps, coolant temps, ambient temps from your dynos? One of the main reasons I am waiting to take this on as a project is no one is being forthcoming about this. With no intercooler and that blower generating heat on the intake manifold, how much temp is it actually generating with the intake charge?

Looks like a vacuum fitting. I definitely would not want it moving around and possibly allowing a vacuum leak that would be very hard to track down.

Thanks for the tips. I'm most worried about figuring out the hose routing.

nothing to worry about. It vacuum as stated above and won't cause a big enough leak to affect tuning if it is just a hair loose.
