We are 15th in carbon emissions per capita of all countries. Of large countries, we are number two in total carbon emissions. China is number one in emissions with four times the population, but with double our emissions, and half per capita. Next is India that is also a very populous country, yet they have half the carbon emissions and about eight times less per capita, despite having four times the population.

As a nation, Americans generate more waste than any other nation in the world with 4.5 pounds (2.0 kg) of municipal solid waste (MSW) per person per day, fifty five percent of which is contributed as residential garbage.

I'm not sure how this relates to anything in this thread.

I've been through multiple, highly-destructive wildfires and some homes survive. Winds change direction. Firefighters sometimes are able to hold a line. In the video you posted, multiple mansions are destroyed right next to some that survived. There are private firefighter companies that exist too that can be paid to protect assets by individuals or insurance. Building materials and other things play into what will catch on fire. My coworker's home didn't burn down, but it was right next to a home that did, and his place was entirely saturated in toxic soot that was in his ventilation and in the walls, so much so, that the insurance basically had to rebuild half his home, tearing down walls, HVAC and insulation to fully clean the house.
