I ordered 16X7 Rials from TireRack with Michelin Primacy Alpin snows in a 205/55X16 size. They worked fine in Northern NY all winter. Subjectively they might have been a bit more twitchy in the dry. They varied less than 1% in circumference. Mounted the OEM wheels and tires today.

Not bothered to make a separate thread, seems this is the right place as it inspired me, thanks!
Wheels: Autec Wizard W 16x7" et40 7,2kg (edit: weighed 7,6kg) TüV approved rim, good quality, about as cheap as a rim gets without getting junk. Tire: Hankook K115 Ventus Prime 2 205/55R16 91V (descent tire, better thread than the OEM Michelins, quality but a very common tyre and size and thus cheap). So I "downgraded" to 16" from the GT86 17" OEM but as confirmed from my first drive it is an upgrade on all accounts to me. Cheaper, lighter, better ride, quieter, more seat of the pants feel (more movement), more feel (less steering weight and more info remains) and probably just as much grip (this 205 tyre is as wide if not wider than the oem 215, see pic below). A very conscious choice against more grip/lateral stiffness, I prefer it to move around even more and ride better, it feels just right to me as a driving enthusiast. Weighed in at 16,4kg vs 18,7kg OEM and thus they weigh pretty much exact as the OEM 16", but the only 8mm lower ET makes a bigger than expected difference in making the wheels almost flush with the wheel arches. Obviously more a rally than a track set-up, this a daily street driven car. Winters will be 16" too, obviously. Hope this is of some help. Last edited by Trettiosjuan; 04-19-2014 at 06:49 AM. |
