Really depends what your goals and budget are for the car. For example, I've mainly modified mine for HPDE/track use. If you were solely driving your car on the street, you'd probably want a very different set of modifications. E.g., a set of track brake pads would make no sense on a street car.
My advice would be to start slowly and really plan out how you want to mod the car based on your goals and budget.

Varis Arising II widebody, Work Meisters (pick the model you like from that line) and a built bottom end with a big turbo. That's the only alternative I'm afraid.

Something all these U.S. Guys have missed is the cost of modding in Canada. At the current exchange rate all those parts cost 30% more then they are listed. Be very easy to dump the price of the car into mods. Stay away from the cheap eBay stuff since it is a gamble on quality.
This also supports the oft repeated "drive it" and learn what if any mods you may want. When the dollar improves you can save some cash and you will know exactly what you want.

There are quite a few people that have spent the cost of the car and more in mods alone. Pretty amazing when you think about it.

Tune it- Have a tuner increase the throttle response so theres no lag at all - and up the idle speed to 850. Then adjust the clutch pedal so it doesnt throw like a tractor (theres an in depth do it yourself guide on here for that- takes 10 mins). Car will be so much more enjoyable to drive, in my opinion. Plus a tune can squeeze some horsepower out of the engine - I think it was around 10 or so? I forget.

I would have to say tints and drive it this winter. With proper snow tires its very easy to learn the limits of the car. I think BRZ world even does some 'track days' over the winter.

And as others have said, focus on your studies and be thankful you are blessed to have such an amazing car for an 18-year-old. Remember that, and you'll continue to be happy with your ride. I'm speaking from experience here. When I was 18 (in 1996) I got a beautiful Patriot Red 1994 gen 4 Camaro Z28 (thanks to the trifecta of hard work, saving money, and college being paid mostly through scholarships). Every day I was blown away by how fortunate I was to be driving such a cool car at such a young age. Never did a single mod to it. Keep that in perspective, and you'll be happy with your FR-S for a long time. . Last edited by Fishbed77; 09-15-2015 at 11:41 AM. |

I think this is the 3rd thread today I have read about this topic >.<
Anywho.. Congratulations on your purchase. Search this forum. Stay stock for a little while, while you learn about your own car. Do an autocross or take a driving training course and become a better driver and learn how to push your car to it's limits. You will find threads on this site regarding the cheapest possible go fast mods and what to go for suspension and handling. But all in all.. It's your car and YOUR money.
