Driver side ball-joint nut loosening over time
Has anyone experienced the nut on the ball-joint backing off over time? It has the cotterpin so it doesn’t come completely off, but it’s backed off twice now (thankfully I check before a track day or road trip).
Also, every other car I’ve ever experienced had a castle nut/cotter pin on the ball joint. This car just has a regular flange nut and the cotter pin above it. The tie rod is a castle with pin, but I’ve seen pictures of other people installing ball joints and they have a regular flange nut like mine. What’s the definitive answer? I appreciate any input and advice. |

Had my passenger side do this recently. The safety pin hole is a bit too high to prevent the nut from backing off so I put a washer between the nut and pin so there’s contact now.
