I'm getting the invalid VIN message as well, so I emailed Subaru. Hopefully they respond this week

The Official Notice is out today in the NTSC bulletin. There are some interesting documents in the bulletin, including this one listing that 25,000 FRS are impacted by the recall, and that if you are "uncomfortable" driving your car until it is repaired you can get a rental car for $35 per day.

It also says it covers vehicles from Late 02/2012 to Early 07/2013.

That matches the Subaru dates in this document.

So for everyone who had their vin number come up as invalid , I would encourage you to call the dealer directly where it was bought from . The recall dept was not able to find my vin as it came up invalid , I had them call the dealer where the Brz was bought and they found it and unfortunately I fall under the recall after the dealer ran my vin. Just thought I would share this because I know others have had their vin come up as invalid on the websites on the net to check for recalls . Thanks

I hope you know when you call the dealer, they do the same exact process that you do as far as looking up the VIN. I hope someone paid attention to my post earlier.

Edit: I type it in each time and double check that it's correct and I get this "The VIN entered is not a valid VIN or could not be found in Subaru systems. Please try again or contact Subaru Customer Support with questions." when I go to the recall page on Subarus website and a similar message on the NHTSA site.

FYI Looking up the vin number myself on three different websites showed my vin number as invalid when it was not . Calling the dealer resolves the issue of the websites saying the vin number is invalid as they were able to confirm that it was the correct vin number and that there was a recall .

No need to doubt others if we entered the right vin . There are more than ways to check for recall other than those sites like calling the dealer directly.

This was the first time I have ever been to the Subaru vehicle recall site so it couldn't have had any info other than what I put in.

Good to see that Toyota will reimburse the people who have had their valve springs fail on them previously and had to pay out of pocket for repairs, and good on Subaru for not trying to sweep this under the rug.

Now all we need is a recall for the TOB...
