Questions about upgrading the avo stage 1 turbo kit to stage 1.5 and 2
I'm currently thinking about getting the avo stage 1 turbo kit for my car but am actually more impressed by the results of the stage 1.5 and stage 2 kit. I spoke with somebody from avoturboworld and they told me the the only differences between the stage 1 and stage 1.5/2 were the exhaust pipes, 8psi actuator, and 3 bar map sensor, but while I was reading the drift office's stage 1.5 thread they said they used a slightly bigger turbo, does anybody know the exact size turbo that drift office was using? And are the 3 bar map sensor, 8psi actuator, and exhaust pipes really the only differences? Because if that's the case, since I already have a full headerback exhaust, then i figured I'd just get the stage 1 and add the other components I would need to get the stage 1.5/2 results later since the stage 1 is a lot cheaper by 2 grands.
I was also looking at the full blown turbo kit and was very impressed by their results also. compared to the avo turbo kit, which would your prefer if you only wanted somewhere around 250-290hp and 180-200lbs of torque with linear lines on the dyno chart. Also which one would be better if you wanted higher low end torque. Last edited by Astroboy; 03-01-2014 at 03:39 AM. |

The simple answer is that the turbocharger supplied with the Stage 1 turbo kit does not change between Stage 1, 1.5 (which is a Drift Office supplied build) and Stage 2 (AVO official stage 2). All that changes is supporting hardware.
The base turbocharger on the kit has done 240whp at 5psi of boost, and 350whp at 12.5psi of boost. What changes is the supporting modifications - boost actuator and exhaust plus tune, race gas or e85, and a clutch that is able to take that torque. And, of course, dyno tuning. |
